Great value!

My go to travel lens! Does not disappoint. I purchased the fisheye adapter too. Great combo. Nice video lens too. Distortion easily fixed in post.

Sony FE 28mm f2 review-so-far

Sony's FE 28mm f2 is a compact and affordable wide-angle prime lens for Sony mirrorless cameras, that's corrected for use on full-frame bodies. The small size and light-weight make it a perfect companion for Sony's smaller bodies, while a pair of optional adapters transform it into a 21mm ultra-wide...

Sony FE 28mm f/2 review

The compact, lightweight FE 28mm f/2 is a very capable little lens I wasn't expecting all that much from the little 28mm – with no Zeiss or G badge, it doesn't overtly boast of its credentials.

Sony FE 28mm f/2 SEL28F20

The problems with this lens are on the full-frame Sony a7 cameras. Most of the issues occur at the edges of the frame. Therefore it is not a great lens on a full-frame camera. But on a crop sensor camera like the Sony a6500, this is really a very good lens.

Excellent sharpness and image quality on a Sony a6500

Distortion and other issues at the edges on a full frame Sony a7 camera

Sony FE 28mm f/2 Lens – SEL28F20

At an RRP of AU$699 this lens represents excellent value for money and promises to deliver superior performance on Sony's α7-series cameras, particularly those with lower resolution (which means most of them).

Great for street photography

Clarity across. I was disappointed at first until I realized that not all software reads raw images the same. ACDSee for example opens the raw image but the image is slightly blurred compared to the JPG that I thought I had a camera or lens problem.

Sony FE 28mm F2 Review

Sony has been hard at work expanding the library of lenses for its full-frame mirrorless camera system. About a year and a half has passed since the introduction of the Alpha 7 , and more than a dozen lenses are available to cover its full-frame sensor, including autofocus lenses from Sony and manual focus choices from Zeiss. The FE 28mm F2 ($449.99) fills a sizable gap—it's the first prime lens with such a wide field of view, and it's also the most affordably priced lens in the lineup. There are two conversion lenses available for it as optional add-ons, and it's quite light to boot. But the low cost and light weight don't come without compromise. The lens does show a lot of distortion when shooting Raw, edges are muddy until it's stopped down to around f/4, and I really wish it focused a little bit closer. If you're a fan of the 28mm field of view it's a solid choice, but it doesn't have impeccable optics like our Editors' Choice, the Zeiss Sonnar T* FE 35mm F2.8 ZA ($798.00 at ...

The Sony FE 28mm F2 is a fast, affordable wide-angle lens with full-frame coverage, but it's got a few drawbacks.

Compact; Inexpensive; Wide aperture; Wide-angle field of view; Dust- and splash-resistant design; Add-on conversion lenses available

Limited close focus; Soft edges at wide apertures; Loads of distortion when shooting Raw; Omits optical stabilization

Sony SEL28F20 FE 28mm f/2 Lens - Brand New review

The list above seems to indicate the Sony's FE 28 mm f/2 number of flaws is rather high. Does it mean our summary cannot be positive? Quite the contrary! To be honest I don't have any problems with these flaws because I like lenses of this type very much – small, shapely, sensibly priced instrument...

shapely, mostly metal casing,, very good image quality in the frame centre,, sensible image quality on the edge of the APS-C sensor,, lack of spherical aberration problems,, sensible control of astigmatism,, excellent performance against bright light,, silent, accurate autofocus which works with...

image quality near the maximum relative aperture could have been a bit better,, huge vignetting,, high distortion for RAW files,, too high level of longitudinal chromatic aberration,, distinct coma.
