Great deal - great camera

Couldn't believe all of the extras that came with the package - what a great deal compared to the big box store price for the camera alone. Still getting familiar with the camera. Plan on using it for our trip out west this summer.

Hard to Hold Onto

This camera takes brilliant photos, and the close-ups are amazing. But - I found it difficult to hold. Any place that I would normally put my fingers on a camera has something there. Also, I found the on-off button to be incredibly tiny and had to use the nail on my index finger to access it.

Feel cheated

So, from starting, I was hesitant to purchase this camera. However, I eventually did, and my opinion of this camera is mostly negative. I am not a photographer, but I am at best a tech enthusiasts. So, anything I write here is my 7 month's experience. I feel this may not be the camera for you.

Cigarette packet slim, the S9900 is just about thin enough to slip into a spare pocket. Indeed, at 112 x 66 x 40mm (4.5 x 2.6 x 1.60-in) and 289g (10.2oz), its space-saving design and light weight are ideal for a trip around town or for jetting off to the other side of the world.

30x optical zoom range; Slim; lightweight yet solid build; Very effective Vibration Reduction system; Vari-angle LCD screen

Can't shoot in raw quality mode; No built-in or optional viewfinder; Image quality is a little lacking; LCD isn't a touchscreen

I purchased this to take on our Alaska vacation, to add to my D7000. I was taking a Nikon 18-300 lens, and did not want to be dragging it everywhere with that lens, but I like to have a camera with me at all times.

Nikon Coolpix S9900 Review

Features Handling Performance Verdict Specification The Nikon Coolpix S9900 updates the S9700 and is a classicly styled camera designed to be the ideal travel camera, featuring a pocketable body, a 30x optical zoom lens, a vari-angle screen, fullHD video recording, built-in Wi-Fi, NFC, and GPS.

30x optical zoom lens; 2 year warranty; Good colour reproduction; Wi-Fi and GPS built in; Full manual controls; Good value for money; Good 3inch screen; 1cm macro mode

Soft images - detail could be better; Low resolution panoramic photos; Tripod position could be better; The addition of a vari-angle screen has added to the size and weight of the camera; Basic Wi-Fi app - needs improvement

Overall as expected

Although slightly heavier than my previous Nikon, the S9900 is proving to be a good purchase. However, I miss the "museum" option and Nikon has not provided a substitute feature. Haven't had it long enough to comment any further.

The camera arrived in its own box but was place in a much larger shipping container with no packing; which meant that the product rattled around in transit

Nice but didnt last very long

I bought this camera last December - not my first Coolpix. I bought it way ahead of the vacation I was planning in July. Took it out for a couple of try-outs and liked the way it handled and the pictures I was able to take with it. So now comes the vacation.
