The setup seemed more complicated than it should be

I got it set up but could not get Time Machine to connect. I loaded other files without any issues. But when I tried to connect to the web interface the next day it would not let me connect. I ended up resetting the NAS twice and after the second time I could not access the web interface at all.

Damn good

It's much faster than the standard (white) variant, boot and load times are significantly better. I own both versions and use this NAS with 8TB (2x 4TB WD Reds) in raid 1, it's absolutely great for streaming and media.

Fast; simple to set-up; full of features

WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra Diskless 2-Bay Gigabit Ethernet External NAS Raid0 Setup

Pretty much plug and play. Easy and stress free installation. Usability is 10/10. Works flawlessly with two WD 4TB 5400RPM HDDs

Massive Storage Space

Consolidated several smaller drives into one and harsly scratched the surface.

Buy without thinking twice

Bought this for my office and finished setting it up. I have to say, for a file server it does more than what promised. Have been using it for over a week and it has helped out a lot inside our business.

Works great as a backup drive/media server across my home network. Secure remote access too.

Works great - using this as a backup drive and media server. I disabled the RAID mapping (took 30 seconds) to double the storage (I also keep off-line backups so that was overkill for me). Seemless interface across my home network - and some of the disk is accessible over the Internet.

WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra NAS Review

WD or Western Digital has been making hard drives for quite a long time. A few years ago they introduced their WD Red drives that were made specifically for network-attached storage (NAS) devices. WD currently offers three different levels of NAS devices.

– Easy setup; – Nice admin interface; – Fast transfer speeds; – Free and useful apps / programs; – Preloaded with WD Red drives (driveless version available too; – 3year warranty

– No dedicated power button; – No real instructions for setting up without an internet connection

WD's My Cloud EX2 Ultra is the upgrade version of the My Cloud EX2 with some enhancements in Interface and sharing content. The device has LAN and USB both connection ports, so you can connect it to the network as well as directly connect with the PC using the USB port.

Very easy setup Good price Built to support media among other content

Fewer third-party plugins/apps

Good for Backing Up Computers

I assigned a fixed IP address to the drive before attaching it to my system. It worked from the very start. I used True Image software to backup my computer to the drive. It took less than 2 hours to backup 650 GB of HD videos using a wired connection (not wireless).

This is the first Cloud Server I have ever set up. Easy to set up multiple accounts with multiple folders with different access to each. Users can only see the files that they have access to. Having secured cloud access on a secured hard drive with Raid 1 backup is just what I was looking for.

2 x WD Red drives in Raid 1 (default) gives me reliable storage for my data; Easy Cloud set up and access

Cloud folders can only be either Read, or Read/Write; I wanted to have a Write only folder that multiple people could write to but not see what others have written
