The WD My Cloud EX2 is easily one of the simplest, yet feature-packed NAS devices that we've used. The fact that the drives can be upgraded whenever you want is a great plus as well.

Features; Ease of use

Price; Transfer speed for multiple files

WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra

The My Cloud EX2 Ultra is a NAS with room for two 3.5in hard disks, priced to compete with cheaper models from rivals such as Synology. It has strong file transfer performance, and is particularly easy to set up and configure to share files across your home network and the internet.

Quick file transfers; Easy to set up and use

Not many third-party apps; Buying with disks doesn't get you a discount

If you are using a cloud storage to backup your important data you might want to invest in the Western Digital My Cloud Ex2 Ultra personal cloud storage. This is a NAS device – Network attached storage.

Good for Backing Up Computers

I assigned a fixed IP address to the drive before attaching it to my system. It worked from the very start. I used True Image software to backup my computer to the drive. It took less than 2 hours to backup 650 GB of HD videos using a wired connection (not wireless).

WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra review: Excellent features and performance at a very nice price

WD sells a lot of NAS boxes-products like the My Cloud EX2 Ultra are why. This box handles the streaming and backup basics with aplomb, is easy to set up, yet costs only $159 sans drives . It's one of the cheapest two-bay NAS boxes on the market, but it's still very fast-that's a nice combination.

WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra NAS Review

Form Factor; Easy out-of-the-box installation; Good read/write transfer for compressed files; Options for diskless and preconfigured SKUs

No Power button; No 2.5″ drive support; Case feet comes off easily; Unsatisfactory mounting mechanism

This is the first Cloud Server I have ever set up. Easy to set up multiple accounts with multiple folders with different access to each. Users can only see the files that they have access to. Having secured cloud access on a secured hard drive with Raid 1 backup is just what I was looking for.

2 x WD Red drives in Raid 1 (default) gives me reliable storage for my data; Easy Cloud set up and access

Cloud folders can only be either Read, or Read/Write; I wanted to have a Write only folder that multiple people could write to but not see what others have written

Damn good

It's much faster than the standard (white) variant, boot and load times are significantly better. I own both versions and use this NAS with 8TB (2x 4TB WD Reds) in raid 1, it's absolutely great for streaming and media.

Fast; simple to set-up; full of features

best on win 8

a little harder to use on win7 and earlier systems.. best on win 8.1 or win10... nice though, on an all hard wired network it is a handy unit and super affordable!
