My Book 4TB hard drive

A good buy, but it is a 3400 rpm drive, not 7200. I should have perused the specs more carefully. Basically only good for storage of data. Not suitable for editing video as I had planned.

WD My Book 4TB USB 3.0 External Desktop HDD , Auto Backup , Password Protection , compatibility with Windows and Mac Operating System

So far so good, if it is as reliable as other WD drives we have in service, will be great

It worked fine for about 2 years, but almost exactly on the 2 year anniversary of the date that I bought it, my computer wouldn't recognize it, saying that the drive had malfunctioned. This is my 4th WD hard drive to fail. Stay far, far away from this.

Garbage, Almost completely dead after 4 months of light use, Not even 1tb used.

Buy a Standard WD black or blue drive and get your own external enclosure if you need a portable HD. These proprietary external enclosures are trash and should not be used for important data.

Its WD

Almost everything, The drive is encrypted to the sata-usb bridge; If the enclosure fails so does your drive, You cant even take it out and put it in a pc to recover the data; The drive was working fine, Then one day out of nowhere it wasn't getting recognized, But showed in Disk management as 0mb...

It reduced my need fromm several smaller drives

I really like it as I was able to transfer all of my photos and other stuff on it in one location. I'm happy with it. The only thing I did was to format it to a Gpt. I do prefer WD drives over other brands.

it runs cool and quiet; It was good value for the money at the time

WD's My Book VelociRaptor Duo may just suit your storage needs

The My Book VelociRaptor Duo is one of the best storage devices thanks to its balanced combination of excellent performance, practical design, and relatively friendly pricing.

The WD My Book VelociRaptor Duo offers stellar performance; includes a Thunderbolt cable; and is easy to service

The My Book VelociRaptor Duo doesn't offer any other connection types and is relatively pricey

Good choice for older Macs

With both USB2 and Firewire 800, this drive is a good choice if you've got an older Mac that doesn't support USB3 or Thunderbolt. Its metal enclosure feels sturdier than the plastic casings of other external hard drives, and both USB and Firewire cables are included in the box.Note that it has an...
