I have used WD drives as primary data backups in my work for 4+ years, and never had a bad experience. Transferring large data files is relatively fast using the 3.0 interface, and haven't had a drive fail yet. Would recommend as a primary data backup drive.

Good and fast work. but never place it vertically. Always put it on its side when it works. If it suddenly falls to the side you will lose your data !!

I got this unit 07/24/2014. It failed yesterday. 07/21/2017. Just under 3 years. I was using as a backup drive using the WD software that came with the drive. First I tried a compatible power supply from another WD external drive. Power supply numbers were verified on the WD website.
