It worked fine for about 2 years, but almost exactly on the 2 year anniversary of the date that I bought it, my computer wouldn't recognize it, saying that the drive had malfunctioned. This is my 4th WD hard drive to fail. Stay far, far away from this.

I purchased this product for the benefit of saving and protecting all my file from hard drive failure. Cloud storage is good but when you need to protect a lot of files beyond 5 GB it starts to get realty expensive.

I've only had it for a few months, but like all similar WD drives in its class, it looks like it will last for several years of normal use! A normal expectation, of a high-performing product!

If you need your data storage needs to be taken care for years then this is the perfect product. Works well with my IMac Desktop , pretty easy to configure through desktop utilities. I wasnt able to use the preinstalled software to format, so had to use system software to format it.
