I had to pass on this one

I opted to purchase this lens for use on my D600 instead of purchasing the Nikon version because the Nikon 24mm tilt/shift lens carried on the same tradition as their other tilt/shift lenses of not having these two functions rotate independently of one another.

A brilliant photographic technique to explore!

A top quality product that allows the photographer to include some real improvements to landscapes and close-ups. Expensive but treat yourself!

Samyang T-S 24mm f/3.5 ED AS UMC Lens Review

Handling and features Performance Verdict Specification Tilt-shift lenses are normally so expensive that many photographers cannot justify the cost, despite its benefits with control of the focal plane and of distortion.

Priced very keenly; Excellent optical performance; Solidly built; Good; solid controls over tilt-shift movements

CA a little high towards the edges of the image circle; Susceptible to flare in harsh lighting

Samyang T-S 24mm F3.5 ED AS UMC

Even if it sold at its $1,299 MSRP, the Samyang T-S 24mm F3.5 ED AS UMC lens would be an excellent value when compared with first-party lenses like the Nikon PC-E Nikkor 24mm f/3.5 ED ($2,199.95) and the Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II ($1,899).

Wide-angle field of view; Full-frame coverage; Very affordable; Shift, tilt, and rotation adjustment

Some barrel distortion; Should be stopped down for best image quality; Flare can be an issue

Great alternative to $2K Nikon

I bought this lens for architectural photography and I'm thrilled with it. The ability to tilt and shift simultaneously is a tremendous advantage over the Nikon, to say nothing of the 67% savings in cost. Sharpness is excellent between f/8 and f/11, and distortion is minimal and easy to fix in post.

Don't expect to take a lens similar to Canon or Nikon T-S lens... Has very smooth focus ring. Maybe it could have a F32 aperture option. The lock buttons are solid but don?′t pass this idea. The box and package is not very good also.

Astounding lens

An astounding lens, all manual but that's not such a big deal with a tilt shift lens. Produce great sharp, contrasty images. Highly recommended.

Consistent Output; Durable; Easily Interchangeable; Price; Quality; Sharp Focus; Strong Construction

Manual focus

Samyang T-S 24mm F3.5 ED AS UMC Review

Even if it sold at its $1,299 MSRP, the Samyang T-S 24mm F3.5 ED AS UMC lens would be an excellent value when compared with first-party lenses like the Nikon PC-E Nikkor 24mm f/3.5 ED ($2,199.95) and the Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II ($1,899). But the Samyang 24mm is regularly available for around $800, making it a compelling alternative for photographers in want of a lens that incorporates perspective correction. It's a tool that can be used for many types of photography, from precise architectural work to artistic applications of what many compact cameras mimic using a miniature effect filter. The lens needs to be stopped down a little to get the most out of it, but given its price point and an application that's best suited-for tripod use, that's a minor quibble. The Samyang 24mm ($649.00 at Amazon)  is a big lens. It measures 4.5 by 3.4 inches (HD), weighs 1.5 pounds, and supports 82mm front filters. Like all tilt-shift lenses, it's a manual focus design. The focus ring occupies t...

The Samyang T-S 24mm F3.5 ED AS UMC is an affordable tilt-shift lens that's available in several mounts. It's an excellent value when compared with others of its type.

Wide-angle field of view; Full-frame coverage; Very affordable; Shift, tilt, and rotation adjustment

Some barrel distortion; Should be stopped down for best image quality; Flare can be an issue

Samyang T-S 24mm f/3.5 ED AS UMC review

Tilt-and-shift lenses feature the film-plane-movement control normally associated with large-format monorail or studio cameras. They are considered to be very specialist kit designed for architectural and landscape photography where adjustment of the plane of focus and distortion control are key...
