The Dyson AM09 is the latest 'Hot + Cool' air multiplier fan-turn-heater from the vacuum cleaner specialist. It introduces what Dyson calls Jet Focus, which adds a second airflow aperture ring that pushes air out in a narrower, more precise way.

Perhaps more impressively is how the AM09 manages to achieve this while being significantly quieter than the outgoing AM05. The improved motor is barely audible on the lowest heat setting, and only slightly louder on the lowest fan levels.

The Dyson Hot+Cool Jet Focus AM09 combination fan and heater does an excellent job of heating and cooling, but its price point is going to be a stumbling block for many. This machine was sent to me following a two year try with the AM05. The AM05 would work for a bit and then quit. This machine is wonderful and I thank the customer service department for being so kind and understanding and for making sure I had a machine that worked!

High pitch, ear piercing noise at fan levels 1-3. Due to the bold claims that Dyson makes, I bought this fan under the assumption that it would be silent. While the air sound itself isn't loud, this horrid mosquito-esque sound is unbearable.

Not that impressed, will wait till it gets hot this week, but my high velocity floor fan from Kmart for $40 has more power and coolness than this very expensive Dyson, maybe coming back for refund. My toaster I bought at the same time is awesome. Very happy with that but think the Dyson maybe a dud.

Unless you're the most devoted Dyson loyalist, you'll find much better values if you shop around -- including Dyson's own AM05.

Though very solid, the AM09 doesn't outperform much cheaper competitors by a wide enough margin to justify the price difference; If you misplace the remote, you'll be unable to access common controls like oscillation and the sleep timer

I bought this fan for the dogs room in the garden as I did not want to create a hazard by putting a regular heater on the floor. This was stands on a table and warms up the entire room evenly in just a few minutes, almost silent and very low consumption of power. It's the best!
