Crucial MX100 256GB Solid State Drive

In the technology world, innovation can come in two ways: One is to push the performance envelope regardless of price, while the other is to drive down the price at the expense of performance.

Effective, good value, upgrade

Crucial SSDs have an established reputation with Mac users. This one went into a late 2010 MacBook Pro without problems (it was a snug fit without the supplied spacer - it's not really an adaptor - so I didn't bother with it).

Wo-hoooooooo!

i added this drive to my mid 2009 aluminum macbook pro, along with a new LB1 battery, and 8g corsair ram, and let me tell you…hot dayumn! i mean…DAYUMN! let's go another five years and see what $250 will do for this mac!

good price; good brand; solid construction; fast! fast! fast!

none! i'll leave that for the benchmark pros; but seat-of-the-pants analysis says this drive is easily twice as fast as stock

I did want to know wether it's best to stick the adapter to the drive itself or ...

It was selling for almost the same price as the older, slower and purportedly less reliable MX 500. While apparently the writing speeds aren't as fast as the Samsung equivalent, you would be hard pressed to notice any difference (especially if you are used to HDDs).

Crucial MX100 Review

£157.99 GBP / $270 USD Since their inception, Solid State drives have been the preserve of high end, enthusiast users whose craving for speed knew no limits. More recently, with the advent of ultra books and such, SSDs have become much more common place.

+ Excellent value for money; + 3 year warranty; + 7mm Height

Great SSD, and if considering this upgrade for first time. Stop thinking and run to buy one immediately!

Laptop is like a completely different machine! I easily installed in a 2008 Late MacBook in 15 minutes. Make sure to have a Torq 6 screwdriver for installation. And it's probably worth it to buy the kit or some sort of disk to enable you to format or clone disk in advance.

Crucial MX100 512GB Solid State Drive Review

I have been following technology for quite a while and in that time I have witnessed the birth of solid state drives and many companies bringing them to the masses. When they first came out like all new technology they were very expensive.

– Price; – Good performance; – Acronis True Image HD included; – 3year warranty

– None that I found

The New Standard

This specific drive is the official nail in the coffin for traditional hard drives. I've successfully installed drives of this exact model into 41 different computers between work, home, and charity work, and none of them have given me any issues at all.256gb is the realistic minimum size hard drive...

Best value SSD I could find!

Great bang for the buck, whilst not the fastest it is noticeably faster than the three year old Intel SSD that this replaced. I benchmarked it at Seq 405/302 so not as good as the manufacturer says, but not bad at all.

Crucial MX100 512GB SSD Review

It wasn't that long ago that even a 128GB SSD was considered to be out of the reach of the average user, such was the prohibitively expensive pricing. We all sat and dreamt of the possibility of SSD pricing one day lowering until we could afford ones that came even a tiny bit close to the big,...
