Apple iPhone SE 256GB Black MXVT2X/A review

The iPhone SE 2020 is the best cheap smartphone for most people – its camera, build quality and speed all match more expensive phones. Its smaller screen will also please those who feel left behind by ever-larger devices.
Pros:
  • Premium build
  • Excellent processor
  • Very impressive camera
  • Great value
  • Waterproof
Cons:
  • Average battery life
  • No haptic touch on lock screen
  • No Night Mode in camera

Apple iPhone SE 256GB Black MXVT2X/A review

The new Apple iPhone SE is indeed one of the most compact smartphones not only within the iPhone ranks but among the Android phones as well. It is thin and lightweight, yet powerful and dependable, with great speakers and a high-quality screen, and impresses with camera performance even if it misses...

  • Outstanding performance from the A13 chip
  • Loud stereo speakers
  • Touch ID is back and we love it
  • Excellent daylight photos and good low-light ones

Apple iPhone SE 256GB Black MXVT2X/A review

This is a fantastic upgrade for those with an iPhone 8 or older, and you will notice big changes, and a lot of familiarities, in the switch. It’s also just a downright excellent buy if you want a phone that’ll perform fast and take excellent pictures for years to come.
Pros:
  • At $399/£419 this is an excellent buy
  • Flagship performance should keep this speedy for years
  • Great photos in daylight situations
  • Impressive video capabilities
  • Offers a strong proposition for those who don’t want big phones
Cons:
  • Battery life is far from excellent
  • A new design would’ve been welcome

Apple iPhone SE 256GB Black MXVT2X/A review

We're the Android Police, and Google's mobile operating system is our raison d'être, our bread and butter, the most essential and integral part of our site's very existence. Still, it doesn't exist in isolation.
Pros:
  • Price $400 for these specs is pretty great
  • Camera Good (but not great), especially given the price
  • Performance Very, very quick — flagship fast
  • Build quality This doesn't feel like a $400 phone
  • IP rating Not a common feature in mid-range devices (though it should be).
Cons:
  • Software We're an Android site, what did you expect? More objectively speaking, long-time Android users won't feel at home, notifications are a bad time, and iOS is still very restrictive
  • Battery life Varies substantially depending on use, but it can be pretty bad if you're hard on the phone.

Apple iPhone SE 256GB Black MXVT2X/A review

For a phone that is so affordable this really does deliver - and should give you a phone that will last you for the next 3-4 years without the need to upgrade.
Pros:
  • Affordable price but flagship specification
  • Small size has its charms
  • Decent camera performance
  • Water-resistant design
Cons:
  • 2017 design shows with large top/bottom bezel
  • Limited battery - and no fast-charger in the box
  • No Face ID - it's Touch ID only
  • No Night Mode

Apple iPhone SE 256GB Black MXVT2X/A review

When I reviewed the iPhone 8 , I questioned the value that phone offered, given that it was not that far off in price from Apple's new flagship at the time, the iPhone X . But the iPhone SE is a superior handset to the iPhone 8, and it costs half as much as the 8 did when I reviewed it in 2017.
Pros:
  • This is a highly competitive price for an iPhone
  • The fastest performance available in a smartphone today at less than half the cost of top-of-the-line iOS and Android flagships
  • iOS is an effective
  • secure
  • and robust mobile operating system that is a great choice for most users
  • The inclusion of...
Cons:
  • The iPhone SE trails behind other iPhones in terms of battery life
  • The design is looking a bit dated
  • There's no headphone adapter included in the box
  • Mediocre low-light camera performance
  • Folks expecting the return of the hyper-compact
  • 4-inch iPhone SE will be disappointed

Apple iPhone SE 256GB Black MXVT2X/A review

Anyone who calls the iPhone SE a spare parts store is not wrong. Dressed in the iPhone 8 garb, looking through the glasses of the iPhone XR and doing its work with the heart of the iPhone 11, Apple has rummaged deep in its toolbox and created a powerful iPhone mix that combines not the best, but the...
Pros:
  • Powerful processor
  • Home Button
  • Bokeh effects for both cameras
  • Low price
Cons:
  • Aged LCD display
  • Average Portrait Mode
  • Poor audio
  • No expandable storage

Apple iPhone SE 256GB Black MXVT2X/A review

A couple of years ago the Apple iPhone X restored my joy in smartphones and a lot of that had to do with the small size and extremely responsive performance of the phone. I went through the iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR before choosing to stick with the iPhone XS and then moved onto the iPhone 11 Pro.
Pros:
  • High end processor
  • Low price
  • Small size for the masses
  • Solid battery life
  • Wireless charging
  • Capable rear and front cameras
  • Touch ID front sensor
  • $50 charge for reasonable internal storage
Cons:
  • Large top bezel
