Sony packs even more power into its full-frame compact

Another day, another new ground-breaking technology from Sony's digital-imaging folks. This one comes in as a sibling to the two-year-old RX1R and RX1 , the company's two full-frame compacts, and the RX1R II seems to improve on most of the weaknesses in its preceding models.

Useful new technology and features make this update to Sony's full-frame compacts look mighty tempting.

Sony RX1R II

Think all compact cameras are rubbish The Sony RX1R II proves that theory wrong. This is a camera you can fit into your coat pocket, but has the same-size full-frame sensor as models like the which you might struggle to fit in some rucksacks. Sony's no newcomer here, though.

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-RX1RM2 Camera Review

Although the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-RX1RM2 Premium Digital Still Camera is quite expensive at over $3,000, it would make a great purchase for anyone wanting to dive fully into professional photography without all of the guesswork.

Superb image quality

This an excellent camera for THE premier 35mm focal length shooting experience. I'm a long time Leica M shooter and hate big cameras. The RX1R II is what I've been waiting for the past several years and is now my main digital body for color use, which accompanies my Leica M3 and two prime lenses for...

Sony RX1R II Review

Sony's RX1R II is one of the best compact cameras money can buy

Superb 42-megapixel full-frame photos; First-ever variable optical low-pass filter; Outstanding built-in viewfinder; Fast prime lens; Compact size

No built-in image stabilization; Lacks 4K video support; Expensive

But Will Anyone Buy It?

On Wednesday, at a small press gathering in New York City, Sony unveiled the impressive new RX1R II, the much-anticipated followup to the compact, full-frame RX1R released in 2013.

The One Camera if there must be only one ................

Fantastic camera. It's the "One you take to the desert island" one. It's a great street shooter camera as it is a family portrait camera. I am fortunate to own and enjoy this piece of equipment.

Good in Low Light; Great Resolution; Small / Compact

Short Battery Life

The Sony Cyber-shot RX1R II is the latest in the company's line of compact, fixed-lens full-frame digital cameras. It inherits the same basic body shape and ZEISS 35mm F2 lens as its predecessors, the RX1 and RX1R, but almost everything beneath the surface has been changed or revamped.

Ultra-compact: Sony Cyber-shot RX1R II review

The Sony Cyber-shot RX1R II is the world's smallest full-frame camera, featuring a 42MP sensor, fixed ZEISS 35mm F2 lens, pop-up electronic viewfinder and excellent autofocus system. It promises absolutely excellent image quality in a package that fits into your coat pocket, but so-so handling, large file sizes, a clunky user interface and short battery life will turn off some users.

Those who demand ultimate image quality wherever they go, and appreciate a solid camera with lots of external controls.;

Cold weather photography (bring a spare battery), action or video shooting;
