Review: Sony RX1R II

Overkill for most, with a few flaws, but that doesn't stop us wanting one - the RX1R II is a phenomenal luxury compact camera.

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-RX1RM2 Camera Review

Although the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-RX1RM2 Premium Digital Still Camera is quite expensive at over $3,000, it would make a great purchase for anyone wanting to dive fully into professional photography without all of the guesswork.

Pocket Powerhouse

I use only prime lenses and favour 35mm. The fact that I cannot change the lens on this small camera does not worry me. I found the slightly larger Leica Q (at 28mm) just too wide (though it is a great camera) and so bought the RX1R MkII. It is excellent.

The original Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-RX1 was more important than you might think. Despite being a niche product and, at the time of release, probably also an experiment, it opened up the floodgates to more full-frame mirrorless products that the company would introduce later on.

Sony RX1R II

Think all compact cameras are rubbish The Sony RX1R II proves that theory wrong. This is a camera you can fit into your coat pocket, but has the same-size full-frame sensor as models like the which you might struggle to fit in some rucksacks. Sony's no newcomer here, though.

Awesome lenses, the best 35-ball Much faster autofocus than version 1, yes, you can take pictures of your kids or anything that moves without any problem. Eye Focus (follow the person's eye to alltis have it in focus) ... Supreme. Is enough resolution to croppa you want.

in every fanny pack and tourist backpack, many people are just using their phones, which come with handy networking features and the like. So in order to stay relevant, the point-and-shoot has been reinventing itself. One of the most curious, and cutest, is

And then there is the price. It's rather expensive; but I have to admit that you're getting a heck of a camera–but it isn't perfect just yet. If I had to choose this or the Leica Q, I'd only choose this because of the price point. If both there the same price, the Leica Q would easily be my choice.

Absolutely Stunning Image Quality

I bought this camera for my trip to Japan. I was amazed on the crispness and quality. It has a very small footprint which makes it easy for traveling with a shoulder strap. Controls are easy to make quick adjustments.
