Good Low Light, bad battery, not straightforward

If you're coming from a Canon, you'll know the ergonomics are terrible on this camera, the ease of use is not so good, but there are Youtube vids to help, definitely look for an external battery source and a cage to help with ergonomics.

A Great Bit Of Kit

The Sony A7R is a great camera, make no mistake about that. To get a full frame sensor into such a small package is quite a feat of engineering. Canon and Nikon take note! and catch up!

Brilliant camera

Thjs camera is superb, i use it mostly with the zeiss 35mm f2.8. Size and weight means that I can carry it everywhere. I was slightly worried about resolution of 12 MP sensor but it has superb colour depth and detail. This is the ideal camera for me, I cannot fault it really.

High ISO noise performance; Great dynamic range

Low resolution might not be for all; 4k option requires off-camera recording

Like it or not, we're on the verge of a 4K revolution. We've noted previously that even though content distribution is still "the rub," content creation and management couldn't be more straightforward.

Sony A7S

With a unique 12-megapixel 35mm sensor, the Sony A7S able to shoot in very low light with impressive high ISO performance up to ISO 409,600! The sensor is tailor-made for 4K video for excellent detail, plus very wide dynamic range.

Outstanding high ISO performance; excellent dynamic range; 4K video recording (via uncompressed HDMI); XAVC S option for HD video; Slightly improved battery life over A7/A7R; Built-in Wi-Fi & NFC connectivity, Outstanding high ISO performance, for both stills and video, Excellent JPEG? image quality...

4K video requires expensive external recorder; Sluggish startup time; Loud shutter; Silent Shooting mode hurts image quality; Lacks a built-in, pop-up flash; Limited selection of native Sony FE lenses, 12 megapixels may not be enough resolution for some applications, 4K video recording is only...
