Sonos Move Simple to set up

A recent purchase to add a missing component to our Sonos setup. Extremely simple to set up and network with the rest of the system. Fabulous sound and the ability to move around including outside is fabulous. The Bluetooth connection offers great flexibility as you move away from the WiFi.

Move brings Sonos' excellent speakers to the great outdoors

Taking your music on tour, the Sonos Move is for those who want a portable speaker that doesn't compromise on sound quality. Sonos has long been the gold standard when it comes to wireless multi-room audio, letting you play different tracks in different rooms or group your speakers to play music in...

Sonos Move - Black MOVE1AU1BLK review

Sonos’s most versatile speaker yet really does do it all – but it doesn't come cheap

Open; large-scale sound; Neat charging base; Auto Trueplay is effective; Multi-room smarts

Expensive; No aptX Bluetooth support; Not class-leading sound; Big for a portable speaker

Sonos Move - Black MOVE1AU1BLK review

If you can live with its price and size, the Sonos Move is an excellent portable wireless speaker that expands the play area of your Sonos system.

A solid portable speaker for an existing Sonos system; Sturdy, water-resistant, dustproof and voice-enabled (on a Wi-Fi network) with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa; Up to 10 hours of playback; Autotuning system calibrates to any environment; The battery is replaceable.

Somewhat expensive, the Move is big and hefty for a portable speaker; Battery life can be adversely impacted by how you use it.

Sonos Move - Black MOVE1AU1BLK review

If you’re looking for a versatile speaker that works just about anywhere you use it, the Sonos Move is an excellent (but expensive) option. It works as a full-fledged Sonos speaker at home and can be used in a wide variety of outdoor environments, as well.

All the features you’d expect from a Sonos speaker; Good sound quality; Solid battery life; First Sonos with Bluetooth; Weather-resistant and rugged design

Expensive; Sound quality isn’t as good as other speakers in this price range

Sonos Move - Black MOVE1AU1BLK review

The Sonos Move is a great speaker but it might not be for you. If you already are a part of or plan on joining the Sonos ecosystem then this is a great addition to your setup.

Reliable connection; Solid Sonos app; IP56 weatherproof build; Supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth; Microphones work well; can be toggled off; Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa compatibility; The charging cradle is great

Price; AAC only; no aptX; The handle is not for carrying the speaker long distances; Speaker is too heavy and awkward to be truly portable

Sonos Move - Black MOVE1AU1BLK review

At $399, the Sonos Move is definitely expensive for either a Bluetooth speaker or a wireless home smart speaker. But when you consider that it’s both, and that it delivers all-day battery life on a single charge, intelligent adaptive sound to ensure it sounds best wherever you’re using it and the...

Sonos Move review

Even though it’s taken an eternity to get here, Sonos’s first portable speaker is entirely worth the wait. Its adaptability and, most importantly, its sound mean it’s fine value and a bit of a no-brainer for anyone already Sonos-inclined.

Big, bold sound; Hardy construction; Fits anywhere in your Sonos set-up;

Not cheap; Splashy treble;
