I was looking for a pair of over-the-ear cans for use at work. I wanted good sound and some isolation -- both incoming, to enjoy the music more, and outgoing, so as not to disturb others. In looking at the reviews here and on other Web sites, I was drawn to the SRH840.
I got a pair of these headphones last year, and have loved them ever since. Prior to these I had a pair of sony xd200's, and what a difference when I put on the 840's, it really was like going from having plugs in your ears muffling the sound with the xd200's, to hearing everything crystal clear...
I bought several pairs of these Shure HPAEC840 ear pads which are not just for the larger Shure SR840 headphones; they also are just about the right size to fit Sennheiser's 280's.
First of all I would like to thank the seller the product box was very intact and each n everything was at right place unopened box which was not expected scratch less product is also awesome price is offered was reasonable compared to market price thanks seller
Smooth lows, punchy midrange, and highs end transients..these headphones have everything critical listener needs who doesn't want to be fooled by his monitors or room...I know everyone sees those young producers wearing those cosmetic headphones made by a rapper, but they are only fool's gold with...
I have had 2 pairs and both have stopped working, these aren't professional headphones and I'd stay away from them if you want to keep them longer than a year of professional use.

It is way better than the m50x. How? 1. No sibilance. 2. Better built quality, with far better earpads. 3. Mids is the biggest difference between these and the m50x. Mids on these sound very rich. 4. Bass is punchy not boomy. Overall sound quality is much better than the m50x. Now to the review.
I have had a pair for a while now, and I really love them, especially for recording vocals and how it makes the vocals sit in the mix for the artist and myself. So I decided to buy a second pair. REALLY GREAT HEADPHONES!!!
I really like these. Have been using them for 4 years and have always worked well. However, there is one huge design flaw. The joints connecting the cans to the headband are made of weak plastic. You need to be careful with these.
