I got a pair of these headphones last year, and have loved them ever since. Prior to these I had a pair of sony xd200's, and what a difference when I put on the 840's, it really was like going from having plugs in your ears muffling the sound with the xd200's, to hearing everything crystal clear...
I bought several pairs of these Shure HPAEC840 ear pads which are not just for the larger Shure SR840 headphones; they also are just about the right size to fit Sennheiser's 280's.
1 month that I use. I tried many other models Senheiser, BeyerDynamic, AKG, AudioTechnica. I use it primarily on my
The SRH-840, top of Shure's first line of headphones, is perhaps the best bargain in mid-level cans out there today. With an MSRP of $199, and a street price significantly lower, it can hang with cans costing three or four times as much.
I have had a pair for a while now, and I really love them, especially for recording vocals and how it makes the vocals sit in the mix for the artist and myself. So I decided to buy a second pair. REALLY GREAT HEADPHONES!!!

I'm not picky about my sound, but for the price, these are a great purchase for anyone looking to upgrade from a $10 pair of...
It is way better than the m50x. How? 1. No sibilance. 2. Better built quality, with far better earpads. 3. Mids is the biggest difference between these and the m50x. Mids on these sound very rich. 4. Bass is punchy not boomy. Overall sound quality is much better than the m50x. Now to the review.
I was looking for an inexpensive pair of headphones while on deployment to Afghanistan; I work in an area that has high helicopter traffic, so my cheep earbuds were not cutting it. I was not disappointed. The Shure SRH840 are comfortable and block out a good deal of background noise.
Comfortable while sitting. Excellent sound. Adequately blocks background noise
Rather heavy and more difficult to wear while lying down
