Sophisticated & Economical

I received these just before leaving on a week-long vacation, on which they got quite a bit of use. SOUND: I didn't burn them in, but right out the box they sounded great. The bass tends to be weaker than I'd like on some songs, but on others is all-enveloping and punchy...

"Good Professional Budget Headphones"

Shure have been producing high class audio equipment for quite sometime. Readers may have heard of their flagship SM series, such as the SM57 or SM58 microphones, and due to this, it was no surprise when they started creating studio headphones.

Crisp clear Audio; Ideal for home studio mixing; easy on the eye

Un-comfortable after 1 hour and exposed wires

Upgrading from Sennheiser HD 203's to these. Completely worth the doubling in price. Sound is excellent but do require about a day of burn in, they sound far better afterwards. Very comfy to wear too.

Shure?SRH440

Recently purchase a pair of SRH440 as a gift. Had the budget set at around $100 USD give or take depending on quality and what is available. What I needed were a set of closed cans that can be driven easily by ipod/iphone.

Shure SRH440

Shure 's SRH range of professional headphones claims to be the first choice for "music obsessives." Well, as far as the SRH440s are concerned, the obsessives here at What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision would position them slightly further down their pecking order.

Power aplenty

Lack refinement and subtlety; one dimensional
