Sennheiser HD 599 Open Back Headphone
(copy and pasted from my review on reddit) With the HD 58x being around the same $160-170 price bracket, there isn't a lot of love for the 599, which is kind of sad to me seeing how successful the 598 was. So I pulled the trigger on one of these bad boys and saw for myself how it stacks up in 2019.
Pros:
- Supreme comfort
- one of the best in any price range
Cons:
- Colored sound
- not HiFi with overbearing mids and low mids

Superb sound from a common model
I am surprised with these headphones. I never thought that at this price a good headphone has such a good quality audio. These are my best bass sounding headphones, and they are very balanced from bass to high trebble.

Sennheiser headphones have long been characterized by an overall darker sound – with plenty of emphasis on the low end, while the mids and highs often vary from one model to the next. The brand new $249 HD 599 is no exception to this trend, though as always, the devil is in the details.
