Samyang T-S 24mm f/3.5 ED AS UMC Lens Review

Tilt-shift lenses are normally so expensive that many photographers cannot justify the cost, despite its benefits with control of the focal plane and of distortion. Samyang's new 24mm tilt-shift lens carries a recommended retail price of only £949, which makes it the least expensive optic of this...

Priced very keenly; Excellent optical performance; Solidly built; Good; solid controls over tilt-shift movements

CA a little high towards the edges of the image circle; Susceptible to flare in harsh lighting

T-S 24 mm f/3.5 ED AS UMC

Here comes the first test of a tilt-shift lens on this forum and for several reasons. Firstly the models which, so far, have been available on the market, with price tags getting to almost 10,000 PLN, belonged to top-of-the-range shelves and were produced by very reputable companies.

Very good

Don't expect to take a lens similar to Canon or Nikon T-S lens... Has very smooth focus ring. Maybe it could have a F32 aperture option. The lock buttons are solid but don´t pass this idea. The box and package is not very good also.

Durable; Strong Construction

Samyang 24mm f/3.5 ED AS UMC Tilt-Shift Lens (Rokinon/Bower) Review

Some lenses are introduced and quickly revert to near anonymity, while others garner a great deal of photographer interest – even prior to their availability. This lens fell into the latter category, which prompted me to promptly get my hands on one. The reason for this interest?

The ONLY choice for Sony!

Not quite as sharp as the very best primes, but still very acceptable. If you need such a lens for specialist functions (i.e. architecture and product shots) then there is no other choice for a Sony.Really it is the tilt feature that makes it worthwhile, as much of the shift can be achieved in post...

Smooth Operation; Solid construction

Great Value and quite capable

I use this lens as my preferred option for landscapes. As such I make use of the tilt and shift functions for a majority of the images I make with the lens. Between f8 and f16 the sharpness is quite comparable to the Nikon version when movements are used and the ability to adjust the shift axis in...

Consistent Output; Lightweight; Relatively Affordable; Very Sharp From F8 To F16
