Samsung Tab S7+ WiFi 256GB Mystic Black SM-T970NZKEXNZ review

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Plus is an ambitious offering from Samsung, with a premium build and a fantastic screen that's unlike any tablet display we've seen before. However, the lack of developer support for apps on Android tablets takes a toll on what is othewise a top iPad competitor.

Gorgeous OLED screen; Premium design; Fast performance

Just one port; Android lacks quality tablet apps; High price

Samsung Tab S7+ WiFi 256GB Mystic Black SM-T970NZKEXNZ review

But then we get to the price: $849 for the base model. This puts Samsung's flagship Android tablet in iPad Pro territory. Is the Galaxy Tab S7 Plus worth the upgrade? Can it compete with Apple's flagship tablet? So far, my impressions of the tablet are mostly positive.

Magnificent 12.4-inch OLED display; 5G support; Enhanced S Pen (included); Improved Type Cover keyboard; Great speakers

No headphone jack; Some apps aren't optimized for tablets; Expensive

Samsung Tab S7+ WiFi 256GB Mystic Black SM-T970NZKEXNZ review

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Plus: The Galaxy Tab S7 Plus is gunning for the iPad Pro and it mostly succeeds

Cheaper than iPad Pro (2020); Bundled stylus; Laptop-like performance

Keyboard cover costs extra (if you don’t preorder); Shorter battery life than Tab S6

Samsung Tab S7+ WiFi 256GB Mystic Black SM-T970NZKEXNZ review

Android tablets don't get better than this. But do you really need all this power in such a form factor? And why isn't the screen Ultra-HD 4K for the best possible media experience?

Luscious OLED screen; S Pen stylus included - which works a treat; 10 hour battery life for streaming; Top tier power; A potentially savvy laptop alternative

Rather pricey; Android OS doesn't always feel right on such a large screen; Screen reflections; Not a UHD/4K panel; Just the one port

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ review: Ultra-premium Android

Android tablets don't get better than this. But do you really need all this power in such a form factor? And why isn't the screen Ultra-HD 4K for the best possible media experience? If all-powerful is on your lists of musts then you can't go wrong, but there are some lingering questions and sensible alternatives to ponder.

Utterly unbeatable display, Includes S Pen, Very fast in everything it does, 5G option if you’ve money to burn

Software still a bit unpredictable, App selection remains far superior elsewhere

Samsung Tab S7+ WiFi 256GB Mystic Black SM-T970NZKEXNZ review

A true iPad Pro alternative that brilliantly balances productivity and entertainment. It'll be overkill for some, and pricey once you factor in the optional keyboard, but the Galaxy Tab S7+ is comfortably the best Android tablet around.

Stunning; ultra-smooth screen; Unrivalled performance; S Pen well integrated - and included in the box

iOS still beats Android on big screens; Costs more than many laptops; No headphone jack

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ review

For those of us that bleeds Android, the Tab S7+ is hands-down the best tablet around. It's got enough hardware muscle to tackle any task, a screen that makes Netflix binges an absolute treat, and real productivity chops too thanks to the S Pen. And let's not forget 5G support, which you won't find on any iPad. Anyone that doesn't already own a handful of Samsung devices will appreciate how it comfortably undercuts the iPad Pro 12.9, and that you don't have to spend extra on a stylus - but it's true that Apple's operating system is just that little bit slicker on the big screen than Google's effort. If you're searching for a full-on laptop replacement, the iPad still has the edge, but otherwise this do-all slate offers little compromise.

Stunning, ultra-smooth screen; Unrivalled performance; S Pen well integrated - and included in the box;

iOS still beats Android on big screens; Costs more than many laptops; No headphone jack;
