Roccat has proven once again that they know how to make a great bit of hardware. The Renga may not be the most feature-packed, over the top or expensive gaming headset we've ever seemed, but in its respective price range, it ticks all the right boxes for a well-rounded headset.

Keeping in mind that I'm comparing this product to similarly-priced gaming headsets, ROCCAT has nailed the acoustics on this new release, meaning it's a dream device for any aspiring FPS professional.

If you're gaming on a console or PC, chances are you'll have come across an advertisement for a gaming headset at some stage. There's plenty of choice for every gamer and every budget. Pure headphones. Cheap headphones. Headphones with a detachable microphone. Headphones with separate mixers.

Headsets come in a variety of types and prices, with everything available from some extremely cheap models all the way up to headphones which would be at home plugged into an Ultrasound amplifier.

Easy to set up and use, the Renga is a headset from Roccat will suit gamers who want decent quality whilst on a budget. First look is at the box itself. The Renga is an attractive boxed product with high quality images on a slick matte black box.

I wanted to like the Roccat Renga headset. On paper (and out of the box), it seemed like a promising budget headset. It sounds good, it's comfortable, and the price is right. Unfortunately, I kept running into issues.

Recently, we have looked at some innovative and ultimately expensive gaming headsets at KitGuru. Priced at just under £40, the Roccat Renga bucks that trend as it is firmly positioned toward the budget end of the headset spectrum.

Affordable; Lightweight; Supplied y-splitter; Dialogue is crisp

Microphone obstructs your field of view slightly when lowered; Earcup ventilation is not entirely successful; Bass is somewhat lacking

I have owned this headset for about 4 months, while being quite comfortable the left earpiece has died on me. Overall the sound quality is not "studio grade" but is very good. I would not recommend this product due to the fact that earpiece died on me.

The new ROCCAT Renga headset is a good Gaming headset as there's plenty to like from its looks to the construction and the quality of the sound produced. I just wish it knew if it was an on-ear or an over-ear headset as for me it was really neither. But at just £35 maybe we shouldn't complain…
