Ring Video Doorbell Pro with Chime Pro 8VR4P6-0AU0 review

So you just purchased a Ring Video Doorbell , but you’re finding your Wi-Fi router is just a bit too far away from your front door to provide adequate signal. In the past, maybe you were out of luck and would just need to move, but fear not!

Incredibly easy to use; Adds range to your wireless network to talk to Ring products; Numerous notification options; Works as a chime extender as well

Design is functional; but kind of forgettable; Depending on your setup; the network extension functions may be completely unnecessary

The Ring Chime Pro gives you access to indoor audio, lots of chimes plus it extends your Wi-Fi connection to the Ring Video Doorbell 2!

OK; Not Great

I've been using this product for a couple of weeks. I have strong wifi strength on both the chime (RSSI: -35) and the doorbell (RSSI: -53), and am connected to the NBN on Telstra 100/40 Mbps. Thus, my internet connectivity is about as good as you'll get in practical terms. The product has a good wide angle lens, though video can be quite blocky when objects are moving (e.g. people approaching your door), due to the amount of compression used. The video is usable to see who is at your door, though not as good as what is shown in Ring's promotional videos. Night vision is OK to see who is at your door, though it doesn't cast more than a couple of meters. There is a small delay connecting the smartphone app, for use as a video intercom. Not too bad, just a second or two. The pricing of the monthly account is quite good (low) compared to other cloud video cameras. The downside is that the service records video only on motion activation. Furthermore, the video records for ju

Great front-door addition!

I bought this on sale, and I’m loving it. Using it to see who’s at my door when I’m not home, and it works super easily. Image is clear, and extra features of the Pro (motion detection zones) are definitely worth it. Note that this one isn’t battery powered, so you’ll need a mains power point for the transformer then run the low-voltage cable through the wall to the doorbell.

Ring Video Doorbell Pro with Chime Pro 8VR4P6-0AU0 review

Overall, this product definitely impressed us. We were a little concerned that trying to hook it up to our existing doorbell would lead to unforeseen challenges, but everything worked just right.

Straightforward installation; attractive design; app provides lots of configuration and customization options

At least $50 too expensive

Great as a Doorbell

This a great doorbell you are notified via the app when someone presses the doorbell and you are able to communicate to them via the app if you are not home to greet them. This is not designed for security surveillance and video recordings are stored on the Ring Cloud at a reasonable monthly plan. The footage is easily accessible however it records events and not continuously. I would recommend this to anyone look for a video doorbell not for someone who is looking for security surveillance. I really liked how the company provides you with majority of the tools to install the doorbell such as screwdrivers, drill piece and measuring tool for the mounting. This made the installation easier. I used the Ring customer service three times and they were super friendly and polite.

Ring Video Doorbell Pro with Chime Pro 8VR4P6-0AU0 review

If you are currently using any of Ring’s video doorbells or are planning to purchase these in the future, consider the locations of your router and your doorbell. If this seems too distant, we highly suggest that you also purchase the Ring Chime Pro to your purchase.
