Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX100

The Panasonic LX100 is a relatively compact premium digital camera. Its 16 MP Four-Thirds sensor, being used with a 2.2X crop-factor, rather than the usual 2X, delivers exceptional image-quality in multiple aspect-ratios while keeping an ultra-wide field-of-view most of the time.

Extremely low image-noise; Superb detail-retention; Ultra-wide field-of-view; Ultra-Bright F/1.7 - 2.8 maximum aperture; Excellent resistance to chromatic aberrations; Uniform lens brightness; Ultra-fast autofocus; Instant shutter-lag; Fast shot-to-shot speed; Smooth high-quality 4K Ultra-HD video,...

Below-average Auto White-Balance; Low color accuracy; Slow optical zoom; Half-press required for Exposure-Priority and correct Live-Histogram; Accident-prone EC dial and control-ring; 1s Filming delay; Poor tripod mount placement; Short battery-life

I'm not much of a gear head but...

This camera is phenomenal. As another reviewer commented, it truly is a dream. What I'm most impressed with is its ability to perform in low-light. I'm almost liking this more than my Canon D-SLR that costs three times the amount (without a lens).

Compact; Convenient; Durable; Easy to use; Exceeded expectations

Great people camera

So far I have been using this camera for indoor and low light people pics and I love the results. The controls are very well placed and make changing settings fast and easy. The fast lens has really improved my results. As a longtime user of Lumix cameras this tops my list of great cameras.

Panasonic LX100

High-end compact cameras are very tempting if you want the power and control of a digital SLR but you also want a camera you can put in your pocket. But there's a price to be paid. A small camera usually means a small sensor, so the image quality tends to suffer.

Large sensor in a compact body; Small high-quality lens; Traditional controls; Electronic viewfinder

Screen not touch-sensitive; 16Mp sensor produces 12Mp images; Lens quite prone to flare

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX100 Review

At the Lumix DMC-LX100's core is a 16.84-million-pixel four thirds type sensor. This is larger than that used by almost any other camera with a built-in zoom lens, and should therefore offer better image quality, especially at high ISOs.

Excellent image quality from Four Thirds sensor; Intuitive dial-based controls; Fast lens is useful for low light shooting; Built-in electronic viewfinder

Fixed LCD screen that isn't touch-sensitive; EVF color rendition can be misleading; Limited telephoto range

Panasonic Lumix LX100 Full Review

The Panasonic Lumix LX100 is a new large sensor (Micro Four Thirds) compact camera, with a bright f/1.7 - 2.8 Leica lens equivalent to 24-75mm in 35mm terms, built in Wi-Fi, an electronic viewfinder, and 4K video recording.

Excellent f/1.7-f/2.8 Leica lens; In camera raw editing; Lots of physical controls; Excellent build quality and handling; High resolution electronic viewfinder; 12fps continuous shooting; Very good noise performance; Dual axis electronic level; Extremely fast focus; 4K video recording; 2 year...

Touch screen would have been nice; Some noise visible in shadows; Lens flare can be an issue

Panasonic Lumix LX100 review

Yet another great Panasonic camera, the LX100 deserves a spot amongst the most capable compacts on the market. While we still feel the Sony RX100 III is a better all-round performer, the LX100's 4K capabilities give it a crucial edge over its rivals – nothing else in this category can do that, yet.

Excellent image quality; Strong low light performance; Sturdy build

4K requires a fast SD card; No tilting LCD
