I have some trouble expressing a strong opinion on the Reno Z because it doesn't do anything outstandingly well, but it does a lot of things very well, and the overall experience is actually pretty great.

If $499 is all you have to spend, you're probably not gonna complain too much about what the Reno Z has to offer.
Sleek design; Swift software
Underwhelming camera; No flagship perks
All things considered, the Oppo Reno 2Z is a nice smartphone. The phone has a beautiful design and treads well on the camera-performance, speed, and gameplay. The Reno 2Z is exceptionally good at video recording, battery backup, charging speed, and sound quality.
With the Reno2 Z Oppo is offering a mid-range smartphone with a wide range of impressive photo and video features.
We called the original Reno Z a leading mid-range phone in our review. It wasn't perfect, but it offered a lot of hardware for a very reasonable spend. The Oppo Reno 2 Z just adds more, with an extra two rear cameras and motorised front camera that makes a great screen even better.
Good value; Big movie-loving screen; High quality glass build; Neat mechanical front camera
Quad camera array is a red herring; Could do with a little more GPU power
The Oppo Reno 2 Z is a great budget-focused smartphone, but with a hit-and-miss camera setup, it's not perfect
Excellent all rounder phone, went from IPhone to the oppo and will never look back
At $599 RRP, OPPO Reno2 Z offers plenty for the money – including amazing design and feel of the phone, accessories, and good camera shots to share in your social media feeds. Sure, there is no wireless charging (but it has USB Type-C!) and the camera struggles in HDR and low lit conditions.
A top-notch mid-range Android if you value design and screen quality highly.

Oppo hit the UK smartphone market this year with some compelling handsets. The attractively priced Oppo RX17 Pro with its long battery life and very fast charging really impressed, as did the flagship Find X . We also found the Reno 10X Zoom to be a good alternative to leading flagship handsets.
Superb value for money; High-quality industrial design; Great OLED screen; Good battery life; Dual SIM and MicroSD card support
Two of the four rear cameras are arguably superfluous; No IP rating for dust/water resistance
