Nokia 8110 4G first look

The took MWC 2017 by storm, even though it was a clear marketing ploy. The company told me it has sold a lot of those phones, and this year at it's following it up with another reworked classic: the Nokia 8110. You'll be able to pick up the Nokia 8110 for around €79 when it ships in May.

As with other recent Nokia phones this is another disappointment. The good - it acts as a 4G hotspot and has good call quality, has a radio, MP3 player and some basic google services.

Nokia 8110 4G Cell Phone Review

Bringing back the Nokia 8110 is certainly a noteworthy coup even though it will not make anyone ditch their smartphones in favor of the bananaphone. It is much more likely for it to serve as a secondary device. Its benefits include long standby battery life and an amazing call quality.

sturdy and classy design; decent call quality; VoLTE; expandable memory; great standby battery life; FM radio

mediocre display; poor camera; Google Apps largely useless; somewhat complicated operation

Nokia 8110 4G review: Hands-on

It’s true that smartphones aren’t much more expensive, even the new Nokia 1, but that doesn’t stop the new 8110 4G from being an alluring phone. It’s different and fun while offering some modern features like voice calls over LTE and Wi-Fi hotspot. Of course, the device isn’t going to set the market on fire but it’s still nice to a continuation of this original series. Long time Nokia fans will be tempted out of notstalgia, while others might legitimately find this a useful phone for festivals or for those who find a smartphone too overwhelming.

Remember the days when Nokia ruled the roost and were the phone to have The Nokia 8110 made its first appearance in the original Matrix movie and this last couple of weeks I've been travelling down nostalgia lane with the 2018 update to this classic phone.

Nokia 8110 4G, First Take: The 'banana phone' reborn

When Nokia relaunched the iconic 3310 last year I approached it with some trepidation. I'd reviewed the original, and felt a nostalgic glow at the thought of its resurrection. The revived 3110 delivered long battery life and covered the basics like texts and calls, but I felt the £50 price was just...

Nokia 8110 4G review: Banana phone reloaded

Retro tech gadgets are rarely much cop, but the Nokia 8110 4G is an inspired revival. It looks as cool as it ever did, and despite the slow, limited OS, tiny non-touch screen and fiddly keyboard, it's a significant improvement over the previous Nokia Originals release, the 3310.

Cheap; Iconic design; Doubles up as a fidget spinner

No touchscreen; Slow user interface; Keyboard slider not spring-loaded

easy-to-use budget phone

"This is a simple budget phone with a small selection of good apps. The user experience is very easy to grasp and takes me back to my teenage years of using Nokia phones. It would be unfair to compare it to high-end smartphones but this phone targets a different market.

The smart feature phone is priced at Rs 5,999. It supports Google Assistant, Maps, Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp too. Connectivity wise, you get both - Wi-Fi and 4G VoLTE. Last year, when HMD Global revived the iconic Nokia brand at MWC 2017, it launched the iconic Nokia 3310 smartphone with a...
