It's as hard to know what to make of the Nokia 8110 4G this year as it was the Nokia 3110 12 months ago. Despite the flush of Snake and Neo-driven nostalgia, I'm struggling to think of a reason why I'd spend €79 (~£70) on one of these when I can pick up a perfectly competent, proper smartphone for...

Nokia 8110 4G Review

Ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, banana phone! No, I'm not crazy. That song came to mind as soon as I managed to squeeze through a pack of photographers to spend some time with HMD Global 's banana pho - er, I mean feature phone.

Affordable; Lightweight; fun design; Can run modern apps; Long-lasting battery; 4G support

Poor camera

Nokia 8110 4G hands-on review

Did you think that last year’s 3310 reboot was a cynical cash grab designed to play off people’s nostalgia? The 8110 isn’t going to make you feel much different. It’s more of the same, in a new shell that adds a slider to the mix. But then this was never going to replace your all-singing, all-dancing smartphone - it’s a second phone, pure and simple. One for emergencies, holidays, or just a bit of fun at the weekend. It’ll get you through from Friday night to Monday morning without having to hunt down a mains socket, and it’ll put a smile on your face whenever you answer a call or tap out a text using the number keys. That doesn’t sound like a bad thing to us. We’re aiming to give the reborn 8110 a proper test closer to its May launch date, so make sure to check back for a full review if you’re thinking of picking one up.

Nokia brings back iconic 8110 'banana phone'

BARCELONA/HELSINKI - Seeking to capitalise on their comeback over the past year, the makers of Nokia phones are expanding to include a premium Android smartphone, their first, and a remake of one of its biggest hits of the 1990s, the 8110 "slider" phone.

HMD Global is back at it again this year at MWC 2018. After revisiting the Nokia 3310 , the company is reimagining yet another classic: the Nokia 8110. More popularly known as the "banana phone" from The Matrix, the new Nokia 8110 4G is quite an interesting feature phone – and not just for...

Nokia phone brand was revived by HMD Global last year, the company has wasted no time in trying to come up with a handset for everyone. To that end, at MWC this year, there are five (yes - 5) shiny new Nokia handsets for every budget, ranging from the Nokia 1, the company's first offering, through...

Last year at MWC , HMD Global launched the newly resurrected Nokia on a global scale, and made it memorable by unveiling the new Nokia 3310 (2017) . This was a brilliantly calculated move; delighting and amusing Nokia fans, playing on nostalgia, and bringing something much more interesting than a...

Nokia 8110 4G

The new Nokia 3310 wasn't a one off. We now have the second installment in what HMD (the firm that produces Nokia branded smartphones) is calling the 'Nokia Originals' series.

Nostalgic blast; now with 4G; Huge battery life; Low price

Basic functionality; Smartphones aren't much more; Difficult shape for pocket

The Nokia 8110 4G is a departure from the norm of 2018. It has no touchscreen, has a slider, has a hardware keypad, and is 4G-enabled. Lastly, it does not run Android or iOS. Rather, what powers it is a new OS by the name KaiOS.
