Nokia 8110 4G review: Hands-on

It’s true that smartphones aren’t much more expensive, even the new Nokia 1, but that doesn’t stop the new 8110 4G from being an alluring phone. It’s different and fun while offering some modern features like voice calls over LTE and Wi-Fi hotspot. Of course, the device isn’t going to set the market on fire but it’s still nice to a continuation of this original series. Long time Nokia fans will be tempted out of notstalgia, while others might legitimately find this a useful phone for festivals or for those who find a smartphone too overwhelming.

Nokia 8110 4G Cell Phone Review

Bringing back the Nokia 8110 is certainly a noteworthy coup even though it will not make anyone ditch their smartphones in favor of the bananaphone. It is much more likely for it to serve as a secondary device. Its benefits include long standby battery life and an amazing call quality.

sturdy and classy design; decent call quality; VoLTE; expandable memory; great standby battery life; FM radio

mediocre display; poor camera; Google Apps largely useless; somewhat complicated operation

As with other recent Nokia phones this is another disappointment. The good - it acts as a 4G hotspot and has good call quality, has a radio, MP3 player and some basic google services.

Nokia 8110 4G first look

The took MWC 2017 by storm, even though it was a clear marketing ploy. The company told me it has sold a lot of those phones, and this year at it's following it up with another reworked classic: the Nokia 8110. You'll be able to pick up the Nokia 8110 for around €79 when it ships in May.

The Nokia 8110 4G is a departure from the norm of 2018. It has no touchscreen, has a slider, has a hardware keypad, and is 4G-enabled. Lastly, it does not run Android or iOS. Rather, what powers it is a new OS by the name KaiOS.

Nokia 8110 4G

The new Nokia 3310 wasn't a one off. We now have the second installment in what HMD (the firm that produces Nokia branded smartphones) is calling the 'Nokia Originals' series.

Nostalgic blast; now with 4G; Huge battery life; Low price

Basic functionality; Smartphones aren't much more; Difficult shape for pocket

Last year at MWC , HMD Global launched the newly resurrected Nokia on a global scale, and made it memorable by unveiling the new Nokia 3310 (2017) . This was a brilliantly calculated move; delighting and amusing Nokia fans, playing on nostalgia, and bringing something much more interesting than a...

Nokia brings back iconic 8110 'banana phone'

BARCELONA/HELSINKI - Seeking to capitalise on their comeback over the past year, the makers of Nokia phones are expanding to include a premium Android smartphone, their first, and a remake of one of its biggest hits of the 1990s, the 8110 "slider" phone.
