Nokia 7.2 TA-1196 review

While Nokia has previously experimented with some interesting camera configurations to try and distinguish itself in the market, the 7.2 is a more conventional offering. The triple-camera setup with ultra-wide and depth-sensing options provides some versatility, and serious smartphone videographers...

Nokia 7.2 review: Nokia's mid-range headliner

Though I sang its praises at the unveiling, my time with the Nokia 7.2 has changed my mind. It's now abundantly clear that the offering is a bit of a mixed bag. It excels in many areas, including design, performance and display quality.

Swish design; Outperforms other £300 phones; Decent array of cameras for the price

Poor battery life; 48MP shooting mode isn't great

Nokia 7.2 review: A meek surrender to the competition!

In 2019, the entire dynamic of the smartphone industry has witnessed a seismic shift. No longer do we find budget or midrange models with less than spectacular specifications. Brands like Xiaomi, vivo, OPPO, Infinix, Tecno and even Samsung are launching handset after handset with specifications that...

Nokia 7.2 TA-1196 review

“The Nokia 7.2 aims high but misses its target: the Google Pixel 3a.”

Android One promises fast updates; Elegant design; nice build quality; Large and modern-looking screen; Adequate battery life; Affordable

No Verizon or Sprint support; Occasional stutters and lag; Photos can be blurry; Google Pixel 3a is better in almost every way

Nokia 7.2

The Nokia 7.2 offers solid performance, nice build quality, and the promise of timely software updates. It's a better phone than the 7.1, and yet it we're giving it a lower score.

Attractive design; Android One software; Bright display with accurate colors

Weak low-light camera performance; Tinny speaker

The Nokia 7.2 is competent and almost as good as the Pixel 3A

The Nokia 7.2 is a midrange phone that, like the other Nokia-branded phones, nails the basics. It looks like a device that should cost at least $100 more than it actually does, it has a clean version of Android software with no bloatware, it's guaranteed to get the latest major Android updates (with...

Grippy matte-textured glass design; 128GB of internal storage by default; plus microSD support for more; Stock Android 9 Pie; with Android 10 coming soon

Processor shows its limits during some games; LCD screen has poor viewing angles; Photo quality falls well below the Pixel 3A; Cellular connectivity limited to GSM carriers

Nokia 7.2 review

The design of the Nokia 7.2 is eye-catching and unique compared to most of the competition - for better or for worse - with a fairly angular design and a glass back that refracts the light to provide a high-end look.

Nokia 7.2 TA-1196 review

The Nokia 7.2 brings the best of Nordic design sensibilities and pairs it with a competitive camera and stock Android. Unfortunately, the rest of the package doesn't quite match up.

Excellent design and build quality Clean build of Android Great portrait mode performance

Lackluster performance Small battery with no fast charging support Too expensive compared to the competition

Nokia 7.2 TA-1196 review

There’s a lot to love in this wallet-friendly handset

Great value if you get it for under $500; Solid hardware; Android One is as always a joy

Camera could be better; Not super snappy; Assistant button gets triggered by accident

Nokia 7.2 TA-1196 review

HMD Global does a lot right with the Nokia 7.2, but the smartphone shows some weaknesses in detail in some areas. There's a full dual SIM option plus an extra space for a microSD card, but the latter doesn't support exFAT. The display is both bright and high-contrast, but uses PWM.

bright and high-contrast display; memory expandable; fully-fledged dual SIM; Android One

microSD without exFAT support; PWM; old SoC
