This is a specialty lens, but it offers tremdous functionality.

This is the only lens I have ever bought used, but it was in pristine condition. I bought this lens primarily to take one picture, but have found a lot of use for it once I owned it. It is not a "point and shoot lens," but it has been a fun lens to learn to use.

Complaints About Locking Knobs

This is a very nice lens and I look forward to many years of beautiful images. Before I purchased the lens I was taken aback by a number of reviews that complained about the tilt and shift locking knobs not tightening properly.

As the wide-angle version of Nikon's three perspective control (tilt-shift) lenses, the PC-E NIKKOR 24mm f/3.5D ED delivers a dramatic ultra-wide-angle view perfectly suited for architecture, interiors, cityscapes, landscapes and more.

Most of us are familiar with the tilt & shift look, with many Photoshop tutorials and smartphone camera filters dedicated to replicating the effect... However, you'll never be able to truly recreate the effect better than with a dedicated lens.

Just get it.

It's everything you expect. If you shoot landscape or architecture, you have to have this lens.

Doesn't offer full movement but great for panoramas

"I rented this lens specifically for the purposes of shooting architecture and landscape images. What I found while shooting is that this lens is limited to both the shift & tilt or _swing_ funtion are locked to each other.

Complex but worth getting to know!

This lens is a gem! If you're used to 'auto everything' this isn't for you. You have to get to know the intricacies of this lens to be able to exploit its full potential. It vignettes at its maximum shift settings, a couple of the knobs are little on the small side, but the positive paybacks are...

Build quality; Sharp Focus; Strong Construction

Nikon 24mm f/3.5D ED PC-E Nikkor

The 24mm PCE on an FX camera is the next best thing to a view camera without the bulk and inconvenience. It works with both FX & DX formats but really is designed for the D3 and D3x. Image control is not quite as versatile as when using a view camera but for most applications, it does a fine job.

Sharp and built well

Expensive and bulky

Part of Nikon's resurgence during the past year was the announcement in January '08 of three new Perspective Control lenses, a 24mm f/3.5, 45mm and 85mm. The 24mm was the first of the three to ship, (and arguable the most useful for the landscape photographer), and is the subject of this report.

Best for architecture and landscapes.

Great lens for shooting architecture and landscapes. Minus is that it cannot be rotated fully on Nikon D7000, otherwise the impression is perfect: it's supersharp, comfortable to use.
