Logitech Circle View Review

Designed to work exclusively with iOS devices, Logitech’s Circle View ($159.99) is a Wi-Fi-enabled home security camera that lets you monitor indoor or outdoor activity using your iPhone or iPad. The camera delivers excellent HD video and is easy to install, but it can use motion sensitivity settings. Additionally, while the Circle View will fit seamlessly into your HomeKit-enabled smart home, it doesn’t work with Android devices and it requires additional components (such as an Apple TV) for remote viewing and to access many of its features. For around $40 more, our Editors' Choice winner, the Arlo Pro 4 Spotlight Cam, offers more platform flexibility, a 2K camera, and a superior feature set.Versatile in Design, Not Compatibility The Circle View is a matte black puck-shaped camera that is 2.6 inches wide and 2.7 inches thick. It sits atop a round base that lets you tilt and rotate the camera head and has an IP64 weatherproof rating that allows you to use it outdoors. This is a 10...

The Logitech Circle View is an indoor/outdoor security camera that delivers crisp 1080p video and several smart features, but you’ll need an iCloud account and a compatible Apple device to serve as a hub to take advantage of most of them.

Sharp 1080p video; Works with HomeKit; Weatherproof; Easy to install

Only works with iOS devices; Many features require an Apple device as a hub; No Alexa or Google Assistant support; Overly sensitive motion detection

Logitech Circle View review: All about privacy

I’ve been following Logitech’s security cameras since the beginning, starting with the original Logitech Circle in 2015, followed by its successor with the Logitech Circle 2 in 2017. I enjoyed the wealth of accessories that enabled the Circle 2 to operate as an indoor or outdoor security camera, as well as the ‘day brief’ mode that stitched together clips for a time-lapse overview. With the company’s introduction of its third-generation model, the Logitech Circle View, those features have been disbanded. Instead, there’s a huge focus on privacy. The camera is even exclusive to Apple’s HomeKit smart home platform. Now more than ever, privacy is a hot topic among security cameras. Does Logitech’s new camera do enough? What immediately stood out to me when setting up the Circle View was that there’s no additional app to download. Everything is done through the iOS Home app, so there’s no need to register a new account or download an app — much like you would need to do on any other camera...

Doesn't require additional app download; Electronic shutter helps with privacy; Designed to work indoors & outdoors; Straightforward setup;

Requires paid iCloud subscription to save videos; Pricey cost for basic security features;

Logitech Circle View Wired Doorbell review: It’s very Apple

When Apple announced HomeKit Secure Video, manufacturers jumped at the chance to ship some hardware for Apple’s Home ecosystem. We have one of the first video doorbells to emerge, the Logitech Circle View Wired Doorbell. This video doorbell is designed specifically for Apple, and right off the bat, you will notice it does not connect to Android at all. That needs to be the first thing you know about this doorbell going in. The second thing you need to know is that you need additional Apple hardware and a monthly iCloud subscription, in order for the doorbell to work to its full extent. In addition to an Apple Hub, or AppleTV, or iPad to serve as your hub, you also need to subscribe to Apple’s 200GB or 2TB iCloud plan (for $3/month or $10/month respectively) for the doorbell to collect recordings, though the recordings do not count against your iCloud storage space. In short, you have to be all-in on Apple for this doorbell to be of any use to you. Chances are, if you’ve read this far, ...

Neat integration with other smart home devices; Good color night vision; Light sensor with a readable interface; Facial recognition;

Not compatible with Android at all; Additional hardware and subscription requirement;
