JBL Xtreme 2 Review

The JBL Xtreme 2 is probably one of the most striking and finely-made portable Bluetooth speakers today. It's not necessarily all about its physical appearance – it sports a large but nice cylindrical body that is omnidirectional – but it is able to deliver excellent and clear sounds even when...

JBL Xtreme 2

Mini speakers tend to get an oversized amount of attention in the Bluetooth audio landscape. That's because people tend to like highly portable speakers that deliver relatively big sound for their tiny size but don't cost too much.

The JBL Xtreme 2 Bluetooth speaker delivers very big sound for a medium-sized portable Bluetooth speaker; It's fully waterproof, can charge devices from a built-in USB-out port (you supply the cable), has a built-in microphone for speakerphone calls

A little pricey; Its slightly treble push can make the speaker sound a little too bright and edgy at high volumes

JBL Xtreme 2 Portable Bluetooth Speaker - Forest Green JBLXTREME2GRNAM review

The JBL Xtreme 2 is a jumbo-sized Bluetooth speaker that trades light and easy portability for much fuller sound, both indoors and outdoors.

JBL Xtreme 2 review: A jumbo Bluetooth speaker made for tailgating

Mini speakers tend to get an oversized amount of attention in the Bluetooth audio landscape. That's because people tend to like highly portable speakers that deliver relatively big sound for their tiny size but don't cost too much. JBL's Xtreme 2 ($300, £250, AU$350), the next generation of the company's well-regarded jumbo portable Bluetooth speaker, is a whole other beast.

JBL has delivered a durable waterproof speaker capable of big sound with the Xtreme 2 . Between the sound quality, battery life, and extra features you can't really go wrong with it. However, it's also a bit on the pricey side starting at $300 and most likely out of many people's price range.

JBL Xtreme 2 review: The best Bluetooth speaker under £250

There are a few Bluetooth speakers on the market that offer an all-weatherproof design – JBL is among one of the most prolific companies to offer such a product. The company took it one step further with the original Xtreme by throwing in a handy carry strap, so that you could rock a speaker...

Multipurpose design; Incredibly loud; Impressive sound quality

No virtual assistant built-in; Expensive

JBL Xtreme 2 Review: The Big Bluetooth Speaker for Big Parties

The JBL Xtreme 2 is a party speaker, through and through. It sounds best at high volumes and when placed in the middle of the party (or the room). There is an app, but you don't really have to mess with it.

JBL Xtreme 2

The portable JBL Xtreme 2 speaker can be submerged in water and still pump out loud tunes with intense bass depth, making it ideal for outdoor use

Powerful audio performance with strong bass response and crisp highs; Waterproof; Solid mic clarity for speakerphone

No track navigation buttons; Bulky; Not for purists seeking accurate audio performance

JBL Xtreme 2 review: Taking the party outside

One look at the JBL Xtreme 2 and you'll know it's not designed as a fancy-looking speaker to sit pride of place on your polished wooden furniture. Nope, this tubular (perhaps construed as if we're in the 1980s, dudes) speaker's design is clearly targeted at the big outdoors.

Loud and crisp sound quality; Massive and clean bass output; Practical carry handle for carting around; Robust build quality and water-resistance

Hardly a super attractive design; Not 360-degree sound output; No built-in assistant/Alexa support

not sure about the recent firmware update (1.9)

I just bought the speaker and it looks and feels like the JBL Charge 3, that i already owned, it has more Bass, but not by much. It is a little large, needs two hands to grab confortably, but seems to be made with quality materials. It has the 1.2 Firmware and i wonder if 1.9 is worth updating to
