Google Pixel 8 Pro review
The Pixel 8 Pro might not be quite the high-end bargain of its predecessors, but it still offers more bang for your buck than rivals. The screen, body, performance and battery life are all good. The Pixel has a distinctive look that elevates it from the many of the competition, too.
Pros:
- Pros: seven years of software updates, great camera with 5 and 10x optical zoom, great screen, decent battery life, recycled aluminium, impressive local and generative AI features, undercuts rivals on price.
Cons:
- Cons: bump in price, face unlock option not as secure as Face ID, battery life and raw performance short of best-in-class, temperature sensor is a gimmick for now.

These pricier Pixels impress with refined hardware and clever software tricks.
Pros:
- Fun, helpful image editing features. Ever-increasing number of smart software perks. Good performance. Bright displays. Great cameras (especially on the Pro). Secure Face Unlock is back. Seven years of support includes software and parts.
Cons:
- Face Unlock doesn't work well in the dark. No DisplayPort over USB-C support. Battery life is nothing to write home about.

The Google Pixel 8 Pro is the best Pixel that Google has ever made, and it represents Google’s vision for the future of mobile technology, though that vision does seem a bit clouded and unfocused at times.
Pros:
- Great materials and matte finish refresh the Pixel design, Call screening is natural and very useful, Incredible seven-year commitment from Google for major updates
Cons:
- Android settings and features are confusing and hard to find, Some AI features feel a bit creepy and impersonal, Cameras don’t beat the iPhone 15 Pro without editing help
