Good company, initial impressions okay
I bought the FF-680W to replace an Epson Workforce DS-410 that had an internal part break. I initially bought another brand scanner that is highly rated, but found it was too picky about what I could scan. My DS-410 would scan just about anything, including folded documents, with no problems.

Great photo scanner/editor
This is a great photo scanner, even will do thick pictures (need to change settings) just read the instructions. The auto enhancement feature works well but I like to do extra touch ups in light room. Make sure to clean and blow out the unit per instructions.
Pros:
- Easy to Use
- Easy to Set Up
- Fast
- Good Value
- Performance
- Quality

Great scanner and extremely easy to use.
This scanner saved our family a lot of money by allowing us to convert old family photos by ourselves as compared to paying thousands of dollars to one of the online companies. The scanner, even on the lowest resolution, produces great copies and extremely fast and its very easy.

This Scanner Rocks!
I had high Hope's for this scanner and I was not disappointed. I cannot recommend this scanner enough. Easy setup (on my iMac) and simple operation. I scanned 1400 family photos this weekend. I have thousands more to go and look forward to finishing a project that I had been sitting on for years.

Excellent piece of kit
Blooming expensive I have to say but it does exactly what it says on the tin and is the only thing I could find that does scan boxes of stills. Quality is very good

Fast but the quality is poorer than a 1990's Scanner
I purchased this scanner after many glowing reviews for the sole purpose of scanning and archiving my prints. Even on the best quality scan settings the output from the scanner introduces artifacts that make areas of the photo look grainy or blotchy.

I haven't used it a lot yet but very impressed so far!

Recommended for anyone with a box of photos
Makes it so easy to scan batches of photos. Just pop them in the hopper, tag them with some information and a date. It creates a folder for the scan run and adds the info to the photo exif data. This makes them easy to find if you upload to Google photos or similar. Scan quality is great but I did have turn off the auto enhancement/scratch removal features as these did not work well. The unit feels strong and sturdy. I got mine for 399 on a good guys deal

Review of the Epson FastFoto FF-680W
Let's face it. The process of digitizing photos is mind-numbingly slow: the laying of each photo on the scanner and waiting the agonizing minutes for each to be scanned, then saving each photo.

Epson FastFoto FF-680W
It's slower at photo scanning than the FastFoto FF-640, but it's far more versatile, because it is much better at document scanning, which means you'll still have plenty of use for it once you've scanned through all your shoeboxes of old snaps.
Pros:
- Quickly scans stacks of photo prints
- Decent as a document scanner
- Scans to searchable PDF
- Solid OCR performance
Cons:
- Somewhat pricey
- Slower at photo scanning than its predecessor
