DJI OM 4 156732 review

The DJI OM 4 is a solid and inexpensive three-axis gimbal with all-day battery life, but some of its most interesting features may not work on your phone.

Affordable; Excellent battery life; Magnetic clamp makes it easy to switch between phones

Android and iOS apps offer inconsistent performance; Clamp doesn’t play well with volume rockers on some phones; Battery can't be removed or replaced

DJI OM 4 Review

DJI is likely one of the first names that comes to mind when you think of drones, but in pro video circles, the company's line of Ronin camera stabilizers are just as renowned. Smartphone content creators can enjoy the same stabilization features, in a smaller, more affordable package, with the DJI OM 4 ($150), an updated (and rebranded) edition of the previous-generation Osmo Mobile 3. The OM 4 is a very good basic gimbal, especially if you're an iPhone user. It handles all the basics with ease, though advanced features are hit or miss, and depending on your smartphone, might not be available at all.Design  The OM 4 is a powered three-axis gimbal with a handheld pistol-grip style design. Construction quality is quite good—the body is sturdy polycarbonate with a rubberized mount. It's a little heavier than the Osmo Mobile 3 at about a pound, but a bit more compact overall. It measures 7.0 by 4.0 by 2.8 inches (HWD) when folded for transport. In order to slim the design down from t...

DJI OM 4 156732 review

While there aren't too many updates to write home about, the DJI OM 4 is still the best mobile gimbal you can buy right now. The new magnetic clasp makes attaching your phone easier than ever, and the additional features found in the DJI Mimo app make for some great filming moments, but it's hardly...

New magnetic set-up is easy to use; DJI Mimo app is better than ever; Long battery life and simple controls

Struggles a bit in strong winds; More expensive than the DJI Osmo Mobile 3

Turn your iPhone videos into professional-grade shake-free movies without having to buy a full camera rig. It is the best phone stabilizer on the market today.

Magnetic phone connector; Simple set up; Comes with tripod; Landscape and portrait mode; Intelligent shooting modes

Magnetic clamp is very tight on iPhone 12 Pro Max

DJI OM 4 156732 review

This smartphone gimbal could help improve and smooth anyone's smartphone videography. It can struggle with faster moving subjects, but is otherwise a super performer that's easy to use and has loads of modes. We like it a lot.

Magnetic snap-on system is convenient; Less port and button obstruction than previous models; Easy to use; Relatively affordable

Some shooting modes are hard to get good results with; ActiveTrack subject-tracking can be inconsistent

While there aren't too many updates to write home about, the DJI OM 4 is still the best mobile gimbal you can buy right now. The new magnetic clasp makes attaching your phone easier than ever, and the additional features found in the DJI Mimo app make for some great filming moments, but it's hardly the most essential upgrade if you already own a DJI Osmo Mobile 3. If you're on the market for your first mobile gimbal however, then look no further than the DJI OM 4.
