This is a very strange lens that will test your creativity as a photographer. Most people find it challenging to identify an interesting scene when it is right in front of them, at a familiar scale.

Field Test: Canon MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x Macro

Maybe you've been playing around with macro photography, either with a dedicated 1:2 or 1:1 prime macro, or with a zoom lens that close focuses to about 1:3 magnification. Maybe you've even experimented with extension tubes or magnification filters to get even more macro action through your...

Canon MP-E 65mm 1-5x Macro Lens Review

The Canon MP-E 65mm Macro Lens is an extreme macro lens . And it is unlike any other Canon lens I have used to date. And I recommend that you read the manual for this lens - it will help you understand its uniqueness. Canon lists the focal length for this lens as 65mm.

Canon MP-E 65 mm f/2,8 / Specialni objektivi

Canon ima v svoji bogati paleti kar nekaj zelo specifiènih objektivov. Torej objektivov, ki so namenjeni posebni uporabi in niso uporabni?ko primerni za vse vrste fotografije.

Amazing lens

If you love macro photography, this lens takes it to another level. There is an initial learning curve with it, but once mastered it truely opens the door to insane macro ability. Lighting has been an issue, at the 5x magnification, due to the shallow distance from the object.

Superior build quality; Super-sharp images

pricey

Canon MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x Macro review by lensreporter

One of the very best macro-lenses, starts where other stop, 3:1 up to 5:1 onother world..... but you need some accessories like macroflash and a millimetric plate and a lot of patience..

5:1; excellent imagequality; nice bokeh

from 3:1 very dificult to handle - you need macroflash and millimetric-plate

The best macro lens out there.

I had buyer's remorse after purchasing this lens and waiting for it to be delivered. I wondered if it was worth it, since I already have three other macro lenses that I like; Canon 180mm F/3.5L,Tamron 90mm F/2.8 for Canon and the Nikon 105mm lens.I bought this lens used from another website.The...

Amazing lens, but hard to use properly.

This is a unique lens not available from other manufacturers. It is for macro photography only, as its minimum resolution is 1:1 and it goes up to 5:1! The depth of focus is so shallow that it is hard to see to focus (no auto focus) without bright light. A macro flash system is virtually mandatory.

Bug lens

I purchased this lens because I wanted to take some extreme Macro photos. Boy does it deliver. This is the best lens that I have used at taking pictures up close. The sharpness is amazing, and the results are eye-popping.

Sharp, beautiful, extreme macro; Allows a vision into an invisible world

Difficult to use; Makes taking pictures a real skill; Must have dedicated ring light flash

Requires expanded photographic skills, results worth it

This review attempts to relate my initial experience with the MP-E-65mm lens. It includes comments about the focusing system and one lighting system that is necessary to capture images across the magnification range of the lens.
