Asus TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 OC Review
As the first third-party graphics cards in the GeForce RTX 30 Series begin rolling off the line, it's time to see if all that extra engineering that Nvidia put into the redesigned PCB and cooling system of its Founders Edition cards was worth the effort. Can third-party manufacturers still produce high-performance cards that keep their cool without all those fancy video production values added on top? Asus' TUF Gaming RTX 3080 OC ($729.99) is here to prove that classically designed PCBs and heatsinks can still hang tough (or rather, "TUF") with the new innovations Nvidia is bringing to the table. The TUF card's slightly slower stock performance across the board (especially given its higher clock speed) might give some buyers pause, but this card, realistically, might be a better pick than a Founders Edition for the simple fact that you may have a better chance of actually one of these in the near future.Specs Compared: Asus TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 OC vs. the World Indeed, get...
One of Asus' takes on the killer RTX 3080, the TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 OC goes tri-fan and long versus the RTX 3080 Founders Edition's unique cooling scheme. It's a solid speedster but it can't top Nvidia's own effort at stock speeds.
Monster frame rates at 4K, per the RTX 3080 norm; Excellent cooling profile; Decent overclocking headroom and stability; Two HDMI 2.1 ports instead of the usual one
Requires a very roomy chassis; In some titles, a beat or two behind the GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition at stock
