Asus GeForce RTX 3080 TUF Gaming OC review

The Asus GeForce RTX 3080 TUF Gaming, with its excellent cooling and solid performance is easily the RTX 3080 for most people. It may be a bit large for the smallest PC cases out there, but promises to be one of the best GPUs of its generation.

Solid performance; Best in class cooling; Decent aesthetics; Same price as Founders;

May be a bit large for some folks

Asus TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 OC Review

As the first third-party graphics cards in the GeForce RTX 30 Series begin rolling off the line, it's time to see if all that extra engineering that Nvidia put into the redesigned PCB and cooling system of its Founders Edition cards was worth the effort. Can third-party manufacturers still produce high-performance cards that keep their cool without all those fancy video production values added on top? Asus' TUF Gaming RTX 3080 OC ($729.99) is here to prove that classically designed PCBs and heatsinks can still hang tough (or rather, "TUF") with the new innovations Nvidia is bringing to the table. The TUF card's slightly slower stock performance across the board (especially given its higher clock speed) might give some buyers pause, but this card, realistically, might be a better pick than a Founders Edition for the simple fact that you may have a better chance of actually one of these in the near future.Specs Compared: Asus TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 OC vs. the World Indeed, get...

One of Asus' takes on the killer RTX 3080, the TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 OC goes tri-fan and long versus the RTX 3080 Founders Edition's unique cooling scheme. It's a solid speedster but it can't top Nvidia's own effort at stock speeds.

Monster frame rates at 4K, per the RTX 3080 norm; Excellent cooling profile; Decent overclocking headroom and stability; Two HDMI 2.1 ports instead of the usual one

Requires a very roomy chassis; In some titles, a beat or two behind the GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition at stock

ex Apple Mac guy: Welcome to the PC master race - thank you ASUS RTX3080

Built my first gaming PC during the 2nd lockdown (Aug/Sep) and used this GPU after watch Jay2cents, GamingNexus and Paulshardware reviews. + The card feels robust and sleek compared to other 3rd party providers. + 4K / 1440p Gaming....just WOW + Fits my Fractal Design Meshify C case (just barely) + Quiet and keeps pretty cool during gaming - design wise, some people will be put off by the 'skid' 'TUF' mark design on the card - At the moment, you can't turn off the RGB front lighting (for fans of no-RGB or having the choice). Expect a update in the future to change this. - limited stock globally For a quick overview check out m...view more

You can't go wrong with this TUF model

Great 4k gaming experience, under full load the card is maintaining around 63-65°c at room temperature. Requires two 8pin connection + tasteful RGB is ideal for me, I am happy with the purchase.

One of the best 3080's you can get

Thermals are better than most other manufacturers, which results in higher clocks and better fps. Also exhibits very little sag :)

Fast - but that price!!

I bought the Asus TUF RTX3080 online and saw that delivery was not expected for another 3 weeks. Later in the day an email from PB Tech arrived stating the RTX3080 was ready for collection. Things seem very erratic in delivery times at the moment but this was a pleasant surprise. I have had it now for about three weeks. The RTX3080, I won't call it a graphics card as there is nothing 'card'-like about it is large and heavy and covers 2.7 PCI slots. I bought an angled metal support bracket for it to reduce the sag - which has worked - although the sag wasn't all that pronounced. There was a tiny bit of coil whine noticed but this disappe...view more
