I have had this camera for about 6 months and overall it has pretty much met all of my expectations. I have shot with Pentax for about 5 years now, and have had a K-5, K-5IIs, K-3II and now the K-1, so I know what to expect regarding Pentax's strengths and weaknesses.

A must have for Pentax fans and those considering full frame

Outstanding handling and image quality in an affordable package. I held off trading up to a K1 for a few months thinking the advantages didn't warrant the price. Now I've made the move I'm blown away by the image quality even at high ISO's.

Great brand.

This camera is superb. I am a landscape photographer and have achieved stunning work with it, easily comparable to that produced by pro level Canons and Nikons. But the main reason I decided to write a review may be the deal breaker for some.

Easy To Use; Excellent In Low Light; Fast Shutter Speed; Good Battery Life; Good Sized Screen; Great Resolution; Nice Features and Settings; Rugged

Monster camera performance at a budget camera price.

Though over twice as heavy as the Nikon D5300 it replaced, I'm extremely happy with the camera. The numerous dials allow quick changes without going into the menus. The camera arrived safely, well packaged, on time. Thank you, Camera Box!

Pentax Returns to the Big League

Built by Ricoh, here is their first ever D-SLR full frame. As Pentax was my first ever SLR camera, many moons ago, it is awesome news that they are back in the market. The Good It may not be up there with the top Sony, Nikon & Canons, but the images produced are of a professional quality - helped by...

Great features, well made.

I have waited for the full frame Pentax for years !. It uses ALL of my old Pentax lenses while providing anti shake built into the body; that means even my no name telescopic lnses have anti shake at no extra cost. Just love the controls; extremely well thought out and intuitive to use.

Pentax K-1

Pentax intended its first digital SLR to be a full-fame model. A prototype based around a 6-megapixel Phillips CCD sensor was shown as early as 2001 , but it never came to market-some have speculated it was due to the poor performance.

36-megapixel full-frame image sensor; Innovative controls and features; Bright optical viewfinder; Articulated rear display; 5-axis in-body image stabilization; GPS with Astrotracer; Pixel Shift high-resolution mode; Wi-Fi; Weather-sealed design; Vertical shooting grip available; Aggressive pricing

Autofocus struggles with fast-moving subjects; Limited Raw shooting buffer; Modest 4.4fps shooting rate; So-so video quality; Omits in-camera flash

Pentax K-1

For its first-ever full-frame DSLR, Ricoh offers up the Pentax K-1 -- and what a beauty it is! With a superb design, features aplenty, great image quality and a solid, comfortable all-weather body, the K-1 is a no-brainer upgrade for Pentaxians looking to go full-frame.

Unlocks the full potential of full-frame Pentax lenses; Excellent image quality; Great ergonomics and build; Very compact for full-frame; Decent performance; Fast autofocus with great low-light capabilities; Very wide sensitivity range; Bright, accurate viewfinder; Articulated LCD; Stabilization,...

No built-in flash strobe; Quite heavy compared to APS-C flagships; Somewhat soft images and blown highlights by default in JPEG mode; Warm Auto white balance indoors; Slow startup and buffer clearing; Small top-deck status display; Weak viewfinder illumination; Below-average battery life for DSLR
