The iPhone 8 is a bit unconventional. It was one of two new smartphone models announced by Apple earlier this month, with the other being Apple's most advanced smartphone ever, the iPhone X , and a clear indicator of where future smartphones are heading.

Remember the good old days when Apple revamped the design of its smartphones every two years, boosting the specifications in between? Recently it has stepped outside that tick-tock development cycle.

The new iPhone 8 Plus is similar to the iPhone 7 plus however the camera is better and also the phone has a crazy long battery life. I didn't plug my phone in for two days and I still had about 30% battery (I am not a heavy cell phone user however).

About a month ago, Apple announced their latest flagship smartphone lineup at the company's annual September iPhone launch event. For the first time ever, not just two, but three new iPhones were unveiled, namely the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and the bezel-less iPhone X.

The Apple iPhone 8+ is a larger version of the iPhone 8. With a bigger screen and a superior camera, it's the best iPhone of the current generation, but also the most expensive. Compared with the 7+, the 8+ offers more memory, a faster chip and wireless charging.

The iPhone 8 Plus is ready for the future, which makes it our favorite iPhone so far - but then again, we haven't tested the iPhone X yet. At $799 for 64GB and $949 for 256GB, the 8 Plus is less expensive than its primary competitor, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

As with the iPhone X , improvements can be seen in camera performance and as for the overall performance of the phone in general, apps open up in no time at all and there's no lag. The screen is also excellent offering vibrant colours, good saturation levels and a really clear picture.

You think you know what you’re getting, but the iPhone 8 offers quite a bit more. There’s no getting round its highish price and dated design though

Went away from apple to samsung... but now I’m back. Great phone but debating if I should’ve got the 8plus for size although still hard to justify price ... after having the smasung 8plus... it was quite the size difference. Still happy with Apples easy useability.
