Apple iPhone 16e Review

The iPhone 16e isn’t an exciting iPhone. But it is an iPhone that gets the job done. It has all the tentpole features most will expect and comes at a price that is, on paper at least, tempting.
Pros:
  • A welcome update to the entry-level iPhone, All the Apple Intelligence features, Nice design for the price, Great battery life
Cons:
  • A large selection of missing features, like MagSafe, Single rear camera is a bit limiting in 2025, The iPhone 16 isn’t that much more expensive

iPhone 16e review: smart, simple and affordable

The iPhone 16e isn’t the phone the SE was. This is a stripped-back but bang-up-to-date handset that will tick all of the boxes for most budget-conscious buyers. There are some features you might miss, though, namely an ultrawide-angle lens and Magsafe charging.
Pros:
  • Excellent camera, Powerful processor, Long battery life
Cons:
  • No MagSafe charging, No ultrawide camera, Basic screen spec

Apple iPhone 16e 5G (8GB RAM, 256GB, Black) - Brand New review

It’s easy for me to get caught up in outrage, ranting at Apple’s decisions to exclude MagSafe or raise prices. But for people who don’t use magnetic accessories or who finance their smartphones over a two-year period, those might be non-issues.
Pros:
  • Solid performance, Long battery life, Clean, durable design, Bright, vibrant screen
Cons:
  • Only one rear camera, leading to many limitations, Expensive compared to previous iPhone SE, No MagSafe

The iPhone 16e Has Killer Battery Life but Questionable Value

Apple’s latest $599 iPhone isn’t the best bang for your buck.
Pros:
  • Great performance—one less GPU core doesn’t noticeably impact gaming. Excellent battery life. Reliable camera. Works with Apple Intelligence (if you care).
Cons:
  • Questionable value. No MagSafe. No ultra-wideband chip for precise AirTag tracking. 60-Hz screen. Only one rear camera.

iPhone 16E review: Eh, it’s alright

A basic iPhone for unfussy people.
Pros:
  • Reliable performance, Good, if limited, camera system, It’s the cheapest new iPhone you can buy
Cons:
  • No MagSafe, $599 feels like $100 too much, No ultrawide

Apple’s new iPhone 16e is aimed at users on a budget, sporting many popular iPhone features while being priced much lower than its flagship counterpart, the iPhone 16.
Pros:
  • Feels premium, Camera snaps great photos, A18 chip offers snappy performance
Cons:
  • Roughly $100 too expensive, Sizable bezels, No ultra-wide lens

iPhone 16e review: the no-frills iPhone ideal for first time users

“The iPhone 16e is built for someone who has never had an iPhone before. It offers a no-frills essentials-only iPhone experience that is ideal if you’re joining Apple’s ecosystem, but will leave you wanting if you’ve had a more capable iPhone in the past.”
Pros:
  • Excellent size for one hand use, Single camera is surprisingly good, 2x telephoto is detailed and sharp, Vivid Super Retina display, Phenomenal battery life
Cons:
  • Camera lacks details when zooming, Inconsistency in camera at different focal lengths, Display is only 60Hz, Apple Intelligence is not essential, Lacks MagSafe
