Apple iPhone 16e Review
The iPhone 16e isn’t an exciting iPhone. But it is an iPhone that gets the job done. It has all the tentpole features most will expect and comes at a price that is, on paper at least, tempting.
Pros:
- A welcome update to the entry-level iPhone, All the Apple Intelligence features, Nice design for the price, Great battery life
Cons:
- A large selection of missing features, like MagSafe, Single rear camera is a bit limiting in 2025, The iPhone 16 isn’t that much more expensive

iPhone 16e review: smart, simple and affordable
The iPhone 16e isn’t the phone the SE was. This is a stripped-back but bang-up-to-date handset that will tick all of the boxes for most budget-conscious buyers. There are some features you might miss, though, namely an ultrawide-angle lens and Magsafe charging.

It’s easy for me to get caught up in outrage, ranting at Apple’s decisions to exclude MagSafe or raise prices. But for people who don’t use magnetic accessories or who finance their smartphones over a two-year period, those might be non-issues.

Cons:
- Only one rear camera, leading to many limitations, Expensive compared to previous iPhone SE, No MagSafe

Apple’s latest $599 iPhone isn’t the best bang for your buck.
Pros:
- Great performance—one less GPU core doesn’t noticeably impact gaming. Excellent battery life. Reliable camera. Works with Apple Intelligence (if you care).
Cons:
- Questionable value. No MagSafe. No ultra-wideband chip for precise AirTag tracking. 60-Hz screen. Only one rear camera.
