Yamaha SR-C20A review

If you just want a soundbar for one specific purpose, you can probably do better than the SR-C20A without spending any more than this. But if you want something that’s small and discreet, yet able to sound big and convincing no matter what you use it for, your shortlist is very much shorter. And this Yamaha should be near the top of it.

Big and convincing sound for games, movies and music; Don't take up too much room; Good control app;

Can get ragged at serious volume; Fiddly remote control;

Yamaha SR-C20A soundbar review: A sound fit for small spaces

When I used to review more TVs than I used to now, readers would ask me "Which TV should I get to fit inside my media cabinet?" I was reminded of this question by the tiny Yamaha SR-C20A ($150 at Amazon). If your main criteria for choosing a soundbar is its ability to shoehorn inside a particular space, then this compact speaker could be for you.

This smaller speaker boosts the sound quality of TV shows and music but it's not the best value.

Easy to set up and use; Sound great with movies and music; Plenty of connection options;

No ability to add a subwoofer or rears; No DTS playback limits DVD watching options; Vizio V21 beats it for home theater use;

Yamaha SR-C20A review: Pint-sized soundbar adds extra pop

The price may be bigger than the soundbar itself, but the SR-C20A is full to the brim with talent. As long as you resist the temptation to let it blast out, it’s ready to take your gaming and movie experience to the next level. An ideal small-scale soundbar if that's what you're looking for.

Poised and full-scale sound from any source; Handily small and discreet; Fine control app;

Sound gets a little ragged at volume; Remote control handset feels cheap; Not cheap for what it is;

not bad, good size

Works well, pretty easy to use, phone app is useful and quick. Sound quality is much better than my tv. It's great for watching shows and movies, it didn't blow me away for music though.
