Great portable storage. USB power is nice though it needs a powerful USB and sometimes the Y USB cable for dual USB power. I've dropped mine on wood before and hasn't broken. Easy to replace internal drive if it fails.

The new smaller USB connector (smaller than the standard mini USB on the 360GB) on the Passport is horrible. A slight touch and it loses connection, causing the dreaded "device removed unexpectedly" warning. This happened 3 times today in my first us...
Increased capacity is expected with storage updates, but Western Digital has added some useful features for its lastest My Passport Studio. We miss the second FireWire port, but were impressed by the labelling system of the Western Digital My Passport Studio 640GB.

In this review we are going to take a look at the My Passport Ultra 1TB portable hard drive, which is a compact device featuring USB 3.0 connectivity and a handful of...
» High speed USB 3.0 connection provides for super quick transfers; » Faster than comparable Seagate Backup Plus 1TB drive; » Security through password protection and drive encryption; » Available in a handful of colors and capacities; » Compact housing is aesthetically pleasing
» More expensive than comparable Seagate Backup Plus 1TB drive; » Cloud feature is just instructions to go use Dropbox
Western Digital's range of USB powered external hard drives - like the My Passport Ultra for instance - are fantastic options for affordable, portable storage… for your average consumer anyway.
