First impressions The Western Digital brand is one that I have had some past experience with. I have bought a few of their hard drives and also had hard drives already fitted to laptops I have bought. I have had good and bad experiences, though the bad ones were due to the poor spec of old units.

WD is a name brand with a good reputation for quality. At the price offered by rakuten.com, this portable hard drive is a great deal. Whether a first time buyer of hard drives, or a long time user, this hard drive is a great product from a trusted company.

I've always purchased WD hard drives , they simply do not compromise on quality and this drive is no exception Forget you maxtor and other cheaper drives, these really are tones to buy because nothing hurts more than losing a TB of data because you bought a cheap drive.

If you are going to buy a hard drive from Newegg (or the A-people - they're really bad, too), cross your fingers and pray it gets to you in one piece and - if you're really lucky - they might have someone working that day that has a clue about packaging hard drives!

Nice price; great drive when they work

They are sold and shipped by Newegg, the packaging disaster experts; Newegg loves to toss hard drives like this in a big box with hardly any packaging so they can bounce around and get damaged in shipping and you have to pay to send them back; Trust me, I know.

I have only used it a few times, but so far so good. Very easy to use, but just one thing to point out. When plugging in it will automatically open and show some logos. One is called autorun and it does not make clear what this is.

I bought 1 external hard drive for my PC and 1 for my wife's PC for backup. Did not want any backup software on the external hard drive, and this model does not have any. I use the image and file history feature of Windows 10 and am satisfied with them.

Got it in the festival sale and I am a happy satisfied customer. Has been working well and there have been no complaints till now. Ordering and delivery were smooth. Packaging was good.

We've used many of these as external backup drives, and they're always dependable. Easy to set up, and the latest version is much slimmer than the older ones, which is nice.

I use this hard drive as my time machine to backup both my macbooks, works great, some troubleshooting required to set up with my newest macbook (2017 model) but I found instructions easily enough online
