Well needed upgrade

Had the old USG3 for about a year and had 0 issues, but it bothered be that I had to use a shelf for it because it wasn't rack mountable ended up getting this one to replace it just so I could mount it Config was plug and play as already had Unifi setup, so the controller just loaded the config straight onto the unit.

Great Device

As usual another great device from Ubiquiti. Only problem was the noise level of the cooling fans with a high pitched wine evident. Plenty of feedback relating to this on the ubiquiti forums. I replaced the two cooling fans with a pair from Amazon and achieved a dramatic drop in noise level and operating temperature. Not sure why Ubiquiti themselves didn't go down this path. Other then the above mentioned issue, these are great devices and integrate nicely into the Unifi network.

Nice and powerful management for the network providing DHCP and firewall capabilities. If you don't need complex configurations then the UniFi Controller has you covered. A lot more can be done via command line configuration if required. More functions for the USG are being added to the UniFi controller with each series update. The 5.5.x series added improvements for traffic stats, firewalls, and radius services. The 5.6.x series will improve these functions further. Note: These units may have issues adopting with a controller not on the default 192.168.1.1/24 network. The unit IP address can be set on command line to match th...view more

Does what is says on the box, but it's noisy.

Bought this as an upgrade to the USG3. It is faster but just keep in mind with IPS/IDS on you'll still be severely throttling a Gig connection. Having said that the documentation says ~250meg and I'm seeing closer to ~400 so the documentation seems to be conservative. Also it's very loud. At 60-70dB it's significantly louder than the large tower PC+SAN+fans in the room. Def. not suited to being in a room where someone is also going to spend meaningful time. Migration from the USG3 was painless. Fast delivery from PBTech and quick provisioning. COVID-style "Click-and-Connect" ? :-)
