On September 2, 2015 Tamron announced a redefined SP (Superior Performance) lens series and the first two products in the line: the SP 35mm f/1.8 Di VC USD and the SP 45mm f/1.8 Di VC USD .

It is no news anymore but Sigma is highly successful with their new "Art" and "Sports" lens series. Traditionally they have been regarded as a "cheap" mass manufacturer but they were able to improve their reputation quite dramatically.

Having watched one of their main rivals, Sigma, garner all the recent plaudits with their popular range of Art lenses, Tamron have responded with the premium quality 35mm and 45mm f/1.8 SP prime lenses.

The Tamron SP 35mm f/1.8 Di VC USD is suitable for use on both full-frame and APS-C-sensor cameras, providing a standard-type focal-length appearance for cropped-sensor users and a moderate wideangle for those with full-frame cameras.

Tamron's SP AF 35mm f/1.8 Di VC USD prime lens is one of two new lenses announced in early September, 2015. Both feature a fast (f/1.8) maximum aperture, are weather-sealed and include integrated stabilisation.

A member of Tamron's SP (superior performance) family, this 35mm features a fast aperture of f/1.8 and a focal length which gives it a superb level of versatility... The lens is very well-constructed – if a little bulky – and weighs a reasonable 480g.

This is my first experience with a third party lens. I hv been using canon lenses so far. Right out of the box the tamron lens was faulty. It came well packed and factory sealed. The lens was clubbed to a canon 1200D and then to a 80D ( brand new).
