I got the wrong one so it did not work properly. But I did find that it did not come with a usb cable.

Great product, just wished I'd seen that it doesn't support Plex server before I bought it. Seems to have fewer hangs/stalls when watching films. The Hard drives are not hot swappable like they were on my previous Synology 214Play.
Synology NAS units are one of our favourite tech accessories. They're well priced, have loads of features and are easy to use. There are few people out there that wouldn't benefit from owning one.
DS218play - pretty weak overall, and a marginal upgrade from my failing DS107e. A little faster for some things, but video playback isn't significantly better. Available apps are **extremely** limited for this model. As a very long time Synology fan, I cannot recommend this model.
Ive been streaming my movies and TV shows from it, and it has been great so far
The Synology DS218play is the latest 2-bay addition to the company's Value series of NAS units, a series that starts at with single bay drives and goes all the way up to an eight-bay desktop unit, the DS1817, encompassing a couple of rackmounts (2 and 4 bay) along the way.
DSM OS; Overall Performance; Encryption performance; Practically silent in operation
No HDMI port for direct output of 4K content
Fantastic piece of kit! Installed 2 WD 4TB Red drives in mine. plug and play - as simple as that. Easy to setup individual user accounts through the web interface and grant access to the various shares you setup or just use the default ones already configured once the OS has installed.
