2nd NAS owned

When my DS1515+ plus died due to the special intel atom bug, I started looking at replacement NAS. The DS1621+ was a good choice as it comes with 6 bays, only used 4 bays in the previous NAS. This 6 bay NAS allows me now to plan to say get 2x 8tb/10tb then I can copy all the data from the 4 drives to the 2x 8tb/10tb pool decommission the 4 drives and then add more drives to the empty bays and increase storage capacity. I prefer Ryzen processor over Celeron's, time will tell if I made the right choice. I plugged in my old drives followed the prompts and had my data back. Just note this only works going from one Synology to another Synol...view more

A great product

Upgraded from a DS718+ and got this!. You'll probably need more to purchase more RAM, so look out for bundle deals!

Expensive But Worth It.

I paid a bit more than I wanted to for this Synology NAS but I'm glad I did. It is so easy to set up. You plug it in, install your hard drives by just sliding them into the unit, connect it to your router and switch it on. Once you have installed the GUI your all set. I use it for PLEX, my digital music files and backing up my business files. I just works and is so versatile. If you need help to get it up and running there are literally hundreds of You Tube videos showing you how to get it to do anyting and everything you could possibly want your NAS to do. Excellent product.

Stable and great user experience

Excellent and well made product. True, you look at the price, and initially you feel you could build a NAS yourself - but this is fast, the software is a delight and I am very pleased. Have added more disks, used the cache (2x needed for RAID requirement for R/W cache), and installed a cheap 10G card. The main advantage of the 1621+ over the 1522 is the availability of the slot, and ability to upgrade the networking to 2x10G inexpensively. Very pleased.
