Super Mario Odyssey review (NS)

Super Mario Odyssey is arguably the ideal showpiece for the Nintendo Switch hardware. Whenever I play it, I start to believe that if there's anything truly important a game must accomplish during this console generation, the Switch platform and capable software developers can deliver it in spite of...

Super Mario Odyssey

I am thankful I had enough money to purchase Super Mario Odyssey after the failures of the PR and Marketing for Nintendo. Hopefully you read my preview of Super Mario Odyssey that has been online since the end of November.

Super Mario Odyssey Review

Mario's first turn on the Switch is fun, but lacks the innovation and creativity of Nintendo's best.

Lots of cool places to explore; Well-polished gameplay; Endgame provides great puzzle variety; Full of fun details; nods to past games; Highly accessible for new players

Often feels somewhat simplistic; Not as innovative as other Mario games; Controls and camera can be imprecise; frustrating

The King of platform games gets back to basics.

The story this time around is beyond absurd with a race of sentient hats, but we are talking about a plumber going after a giant turtle to save a princess here, so all bets are off. It's best to turn the brain off as what always matters in Mario is the gameplay.

Great for kids

This game has been so good for my kids especially the younger ones. It is an appropriate game for all ages even us parents have fun.

Review: Super Mario Odyssey

Mario has never been slicker to control ... it can become a thing of pure joy just to hurtle Mario around levels exploring and finding power moons at your own pace It is fair to say that the Nintendo Switch's first seven months have been better than anyone expected.

It's classic Mario; Mario's never controlled better; Beautiful worlds; Incredible title song; A genuinely great game

Doesn't live up to previous Mario greats; Some open world aspects don't work as well as they should; Boring story; even for a Mario game; Too easy to reach the credits; Missing that Nintendo magic and soul

Great game

Great addition to the Mario Bros franchise. Harkens back to the older days while still bringing a fresh new take, both my step-son and I love to play it together!!

Super Mario Odyssey Is the Escape We Deserve

One feeling kept washing over me as I played Super Mario Odyssey: joy. This title is, without a doubt, one of the most joyous, exuberant, delightful games I've played this year, if not in the last five or even 10.

Innovative gameplay; Colorful; beautiful graphics; Creative levels

Camera isn't tight enough; Motion controls required for some moves and are difficult; if not impossible; to use in handheld mode

Super Mario Odyssey

In several ways, Super Mario Odyssey seems too eager to please. The game's basic storyline-Mario must rescue Princess Peach from Bowser-remains obligatorily familiar, no doubt to avoid ticking off a legion of traditionalists.

Super Mario Odyssey

Within eight months of its release, the Nintendo Switch has received one of the best chapters in The Legend of Zelda saga, and one of the best Super Mario games ever. Not too shabby Nintendo, not at all.
