DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU WANT TO ENJOY YOUR TIME. To get the controller to function takes a long time, and it gets messed up just by setting the controller down on table. Just the vibration of setting the controller down is enough to trigger the "Sync button" , which makes you player 2 which makes it...
None; functions about 10% of the time
Triggers are the only customizeable thing; They could have made it so you could re-map the keys, they did not; The controller is easily changed between players, and you have to shut off PC, controller and restart the game entirely if you accidentally touch the "Sync" button.
Bought this for use with my Samsung Gear VR. It connected instantly to the phone, and works really well with the VR games. This controller feels really nice in my hands. It feels weighty and premium (I assume there's just a chunk of metal in it, because the casing is plastic, but it feels good).
Input devices and interfaces don't get much love. Good ones are invisible, performing their job with little fanfare or recognition, while users mercilessly tear to shreds bad ones.
The SteelSeries Stratus XL is easily one of the best Made for iPhone controllers out at the moment, as it's comfortable in the hand, boasts solid buttons and analogue sticks and it won't give you cramps either - we just wish it had better compatibility with our PCs and Macs, and even Android too.
SteelSeries' second iOS controller is called Stratus XL ($70), a followup to the original Stratus. Previously, the small Bluetooth controller launched with a retail price of $100, but the new Stratus XL is both larger - hence the name - and $30 cheaper.…
I've always been of the mindset that touch controls need to be done well for mobile games. If they rely purely on physical controllers, well, that's just no good. That said, I can still certainly appreciate physical controllers for mobile devices.
The SteelSeries Stratus XL is a functional, solid controller that can work both as your PC gamepad and your Android device controller. It feels good in the hand and performs as advertised with both platforms, and its build quality puts it in line with the Xbox One and DualShock 4 gamepads.
Android and Windows compatible; SteelSeries Engine greatly improves PC game compatibility; Solid build quality; Responsive
Lack of automatic sleep mode can drain batteries; Face buttons feel slightly spongy
I found that the game controllers do not work with steam on a mac, and you can get them to work but you have to open the game files and alter the games code. This is not an easy or fun way to play games but I would recommend it to mobile gamers.
This is without a doubt the best iOS controller on the market. The build quality and feel is superb. Only con is the very limited game selection. So before buying you need to consider this. But overall the product is great and works very well with an iPad.
